Ya gotta love the places these Ulyssi are going . . . guy here buys one, returns the next day for a 1,000 mile service and at the same time there are no less than 2 "wander the world" efforts underway. Fun to see the pics of Ulyssi in all the interesting spots.

D . . . that just looks COLD!

Ride safe and have fun,
Court

I met up with Ferris, Denise, Fireman Jim and Mark at Furnace Creek, Death Valley about noon yesterday. Oh yes, Spidey was hanging out someplace there too!
The Buells were a hit with the foreign tourists who arrive by numerous bus loads there. I bet having a Uly, an XB9R, a S2 and a S3 in one remote spot like that would be a bit rare.
This is only the second Uly I've seen and I think it looks much better in person. Got to sit on it, (thank you Madduck!) and it feels quite a bit different than any other Buell to me, even the XB12S. Different but still good. That low seat is going to be the ticket for many people as it seems to bring the seat height down a lot and it feels good too. Impressive looking bags too.
From Furnace Creek we made a fairly hard charge to Lone Pine through some steep grades and nice twisties. Looked to me like the Uly did quite well two up no matter if it was flat, straight, steep or twisty. I'd say Jerry and the Uly are taking the workout very well.
We met up with a special guest at Lone Pine.
A very inspireational and cool person who was a great pleasure to meet and ride with.
Sorry everybody but thats Ferris's story to tell.
From there up to Whitney Portal and back down, then superslab to Walker Pass and more twisties to the Thunderdome. It was a great time on the road, some pictures and details of which I think Ferris might be able to post Sunday night. Unless somebody can work some computer magic from the "remote desert" at "Buelling Man" tonight!
We had a good time at the Dome last night. Good to see Dino again. Lots of quiet talk about the past, present and future and some much needed recharge time for some.
I'm sure they gave the Lion's Trail a pretty hard twist on their way South this morning.
Good luck & have fun everybody!

Beautiful, Historic Victor Colorado.

An old Gold mine head frame.

Right-On man !

A rare view of the Uli.

A much more common view of her.

Hey, let's check out this cow trail.

Who needs a stinking road when ya got a Uli ?

This looks like a good spot for a break, huh?

Standing proud in front of my home.......not really. But watch your step when the chips are down. (Cow chips that is.)

A special thanks to Al from American Sportbike. He helped me repair my flat rear tire. I got the flat on the Uly as we heading up to Big Bear. Without Al's help it would have been a long day stuck on the side of mountain. Of course no cell phone reception. Can you hear me now Verizon?

Ferris-Has not lost a step,he can ride like the wind.I have to say the back end of Uly dosen't look that bad. In fact that rear tail light looks kinda of cool.

Well, I have no new info on FBRAT for all of you out there. But while you're waiting for more up to date photos and text, here are some pics of the return to the Thunderdome, Friday 9/9/05.

I had left work early and ridden south thru the Sierra Nevada to Lake Isabella to greet FB and the current entourage. As it turned out, I was there a bit ahead of them. Hardly a hardship...I relaxed on the deck with a good book to wait. Let's see, read or gaze out at the view? Hmmm.

See the houses on the peninsula that sticks out into the lake on the far left. For anyone who's wonder what a 12x optical zoom can do...this next shot shows a house that is just off the left edge of the preceeding shot (12x optical zoom, handheld with image stabilization on). In the background you can see the porta potties at the boat launch across the lake.

Meanwhile, back at the Thunderdome, I had company while I waited. this guy came by with an entourage of his own.

Soon enough, the protagonists of FBRAT arrived. FB & D followed by FMJ roll in.

Having dismounted FMJ and Unibear, ummm, I don't know what they're doing. Looks to me like Unibear is leading the FBRAT Vocal Ensemble while FMJ reacts predictably to the quality of the performance, or lack thereof.

Dino! In all my thank yous who did I forget???
Was great you made it to the Dome - thanks again for your support and friendship.

Alex - Just off the phone with Ferris. Said your call last night was cut off - mine was pretty short as well - pretty much zilch in the way of a signal. Wanted to let you and everyone know Ocotillo Wells/Buelling Man was a BLAST - literally - and the pictures will blow away the rest of us who couldn't be there.

Right now at Hells Kitchen - running a bit behind - but next stop the Rock Store. Ya think Leno may still be there??? Wonder if he has a Uly in his collection yet.

T-bear, nice work! The Patty Shack ride in itself was epic - nearly fell off the seat laughing so hard. : )

Madduck, seems that your Uly slew a few bugs on the trip west to California.

As our party of returning motorcyclists dig into the post ride repast of cold beer and hot pizza, the last rays of the day's light paint the Sierra.

And now, our intrepid road warrior! Umm, intrepid but very tired.

...and bashful.

As Unibear said earlier, there was a very special and inspirational guest along for the ride home to the 'dome...but I'll wait for FB to break that news before posting any pics. So, as the day winds down, our friends head for a night's rest. There's more riding to be done tomorrow!

Soon, the garage is quiet. Riderless bikes and helmets awaiting the new day.

Denise; please, when it comes to the Uly Review part of FBRAT, chime in with your thoughts on the bike from the passenger point of view, as well of course, with any other observations.

Thanks

Well, you said you wanted an adventure. Guess the signs say it all.

But, No Worries, the rock Gods were watching over our friends along the way.

We wern't dunn yet so we didn't stop here.

Doing what it does the best....booking down the less traveled path. Yeah!!

At times, we just had to stop and take in the incredible place we were passing through.

Places like this you really hoped that no one was coming from the other direction. Can you imagine how a train used to fit through here. That is what this "road" used to be, a rail road!(Sorry, I couldn't figure how to rotate this picture.)

Even this late in the year there was still plenty of "Color" here in the Rockies.

I have one more batch to post of this leg of the Colorado portion of this Epic Adventure. I hope you all enjoyed seeing them as much as I did being a part of it. thanks, Tbear

G'day,
Just posted a few pictures I took this afternoon, having met up with Ferris and the gang at the RockStore.

Pretty much everyone I met today, bar Sparky (who I met yesterday), I met first time. All were very friendly and seem enthusiastic about the Uly, Buells, bikes and life in general

Looking forward to meeting up with some of you again in the near future.

Good luck and have a safe rest of the trip Ferris - I't was a pleasure to meet you

Cheers,
-Jack

Being new to the group, and having a terrible memory for names - if anyone would care to help out...

I just left Jerry in the capable hands of Jim SB at Jims house an hour ago. He should of had a night cap or two under his belt by now.

It was great meeting every one today, and congrats to Jack (Rhinowerx) for acquiring his steal of a Uly.
