Grrrreeeaaattt!!!
My best friend from back home (stingaroo on the board) is flying in Thursday and will be here until Sunday, I'll then be finding 6 or 7 hours sometime next week to ride to the Dells and back to get timing down and get to know the route a bit. That's going to be a tough one to pull after a full day of work, but I'll get her done. After that, a new set of tires and we're ready to go! |

Lemme know as soon as you want me to pull the trigger on the Luxor Jerry  . When/if you do, I'll need a rough head count. I think I saw six/seven so far for Vegas?
From what I've been told we can't really get a place on the second floor "right on" the strip as such... I don't live there though. As soon as I know where we'll be (Whether it's the Luxor or not) I'll call some travel agencies in Vegas to see if there's a good place to eat around wherever we are. From what I can tell though, if we stay in a nice place on the strip our best bet is probably to eat there as well. I'll still call though... A travel agent will probably have a better suggestion than I do for a place to eat that's got an area directly on the edge of the strip. |

Don, we're real close to pulling the trigger on the Luxor. waiting to hear from Bbstacker at this point. hang tight just a bit longer...
Alex, you had some ideas about Las Vegas?
Skyguy, there's an itinerary at the top of this page. we'll be arriving at mine and Denise's place at Lake Isabella (the ThunderDome) about 6 p.m. Friday Sept 9, and spending the night. overnight guests are welcome.
Saturday Sept 10 we'll be leaving early for Wrightwood, via the Lion's Trail (Bodfish-Caliente Rd), 58 to Tehachapi, thru the windmills, quick photo-op stop at Willow Springs, then across the Mojave and up to Angeles Crest and Wrightwood via Pearblossom.
from there we'll be going right past your place, heading for Idyllwild and Mt. Palomar, and will be spending Sat night camping in the desert at Ocotillo Wells.
Saturday night is the Buelling Man celebration. i'm pretty sure if you like lots of cold beer you'll fit right in.
Sunday the boys have put together a nice ride that will see us briefly at Venice Beach (for the photo ops) and then on to the Rock Store. i'll be spending Sunday night in Santa Barbara, then will set out up the coast on Highway 1 on Monday morning.
hope you can join us somewhere along the way. the party on Thursday night in Las Vegas will be fun, and you're sure welcome to join us there if your schedule permits.

BTW I'm a go for Vegas. Just got Friday the 9th off confirmed today and I'll meet up with everyone Thursday night.

I got ahold of my boy in Vegas. He works at Paris hotel. He said there is nothing at Paris that overlooks the strip. Besides, the place was just bought out by Harrah's and the employee discount program has been suspended pending review. So, guys, it looks like it's the Luxor. |

I am working on Nellis AFB with one of the units down here temporarily. I have been getting off work around 3 or 4am as of late though it changes week to week.
I will keep my ears open as far as what my shift looks like. If things shift towards the later end what are the plans for Dinner/supper? |

absolutely Donald! i'll post a detailed itinerary for that day's ride as soon as it's completed. in fact, you're welcome to join the tour anywhere your schedule and inclination permits. we'll be spending the night before at Ocotillo Wells, perhaps you can come stoke the Buelling Man fire with us?

Bbstacker, i'm not sure the Luxor actually overlooks the Strip, either. sure wish i had someone on the ground in Vegas who could put our program together that night.

Josh, well, try as i might i DON'T have any firm plans yet. the Las Vegas stop has, by far, been the most difficult of this trip to get a handle on.
normally i'd just jump on my bike and ride there and figure it out first hand (a la Alex's RANE ride last year), but i just can't afford to blow another day of work between now and my flight to Wisconsin on the 1st.
will post more about the Vegas stop as i know more.

Some of the rooms at the Luxor do over look the strip, and they are pretty nice.
I'll keep an eye on the log and do what I can to make anything y'all plan.
If the strip doesn't pan out I could probably set up rooms up on base... they aren't very glamorus but the flightline has an awesome view of some steel Birds of Prey; We have some Eagles, Falcons and Raptors nesting at the moment... *Grins*. And at $22 a night you can't beat the price. I can reserve them 3 days in advance so if your strip plans fall through just let me know.

I've got a friend down there who has some contacts with MGM Grand. Not sure if he can do anything but I'd be happy to have him check.
