I received the Renewal Form for the Corkscrew View sites for next year and most things will cost more as expected.We must pay for sites by August 20th for next years event.... Sites are now $50.00 more..($325.00 ea) Paddock/Pit Passes are $15.00 more..(40.00)limit 6 Parade lap more than doubled!!!!....$50.00)!!!! and is severely limited..probably due to Accident Reserved Camping is now $275.00 Priority is now $190.00 General is now $45.00 Premier pit row Suite will be $595 to $750.00 Sales will be telephone or walkup only starting at 8:00 AM SWeptember 1st.....(sweptember,silly wabbit!) | ||

Damn Kalifonia sticks it to people Listed are the costs for the Motegi Japan GP (the ones that I know anyway) Paddock/Pit Passes $40 for all three days Parade lap $30 (there were 200 Ducati's alone) Reserved Camping $100 (you could camp inside the track for nothing anyplace outside the speedway...the back half of the road course) for all three days Priority seating (Grandstand Front straight) $50.00 for all three days General $90.00 (sit anywhere or wander anywhere like I did) for all three days) General gets you into the track after that you can pick a seat unless you spring for one of the stands. Turn 1 and the final 90* off the back straight were like $75 but everything else was $50) On the whole it was really cheap...food and especially beer were waaayyyy less than I was expecting, for $10 I got a 20oz beer(unopened can) and 1/2 of beef teriaki BBQ, this is Japan I really expected it to be really expensive (even t shirts were only $20). 2 of the guys I was with were at Laguna Seca this year and they said Motegi had more people and MORE motorcycles...all with less traffic???? Must be the Japanese...it was wild regardless I can $ee that I have $een the 1 Moto GP that I will ever $ee live....cost$ in the $tate$ are $illy | ||

I have been looking at hotel prices in the area for friday and saturday night and am getting quite discouraged. I am not much of a camping style person so I am trying to justify the hotel costs of this once a year event to myself. I could stay in King City for cheap and ride in in about 1 1/2 hours, but it is not the same. I could just ride up race day as it is only about 3 hours away normally anyways. Oh decisions - see you all there. | ||

(April 14, 2006) – The Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) announced today a traffic plan for improving the flow of vehicles and spectators in and out of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix July 21-23. Highlights of the plan include all general admission parking off-site, with spectators transported via shuttle bus; a motorcycle-only entrance; and increased staffing and directional signage. The plan will immediately limit the number of automobiles permitted on-site at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca by providing free off-site parking at Cal State University – Monterey Bay (CSUMB) located near Monterey just off of Highway 1. From there, all spectators will be shuttled by bus onto Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca through the South Boundary Road entrance. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will continue to allow spectators to enter with personal belongings (cameras, backpacks, personal coolers, etc.), but these must be able to sit on the riders lap. “Our first goal was to reach a solution that limited the number of automobiles on-site, and the shuttle bus system should allow us to do that efficiently. The parking is conveniently located just off of Highway 1, and will remain free of charge,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/General Manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “This is a system that works well for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament, and should help us eliminate some of the traffic strain both into the facility and throughout the community during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.” All motorcyclists will be provided free parking at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Wolf Hill, traditionally the automobile parking area at spectator events. Motorcycles will enter and exit on Barloy Canyon Road, located off of Reservation Road in Marina. No automobiles will be allowed to enter or exit on this road. “Part of the charm of a MotoGP World Championship event is that, by its nature, it becomes the largest motorcycle gathering many people will ever witness. We wanted to ensure that continued,” Campbell said of continuing motorcycle parking on-site at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “We hope this will encourage even more of our avid motorcycling base to ride to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.” “We’ve pledged to improve our efficiency at the admission gates; if spectators, particularly those traveling by motorcycle, can assist us by having their tickets easily available we’ll make the entry process as painless and enjoyable as possible for everyone at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.” The only automobiles on-site will be those with parking passes, such as those purchased through Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in hospitality packages or teams, media and officials. These automobiles will be able to enter through one lane of South Boundary Road (shuttles will be entering in the same direction in the opposite lane) until 2:00 p.m. each day, at which point the traffic flow will be reversed and the same automobiles will exit on the same road. Teams, media and officials will enter and exit the main gate through Highway 68. A limited number of general public on-site parking passes for Wolf Hill parking are available through Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, at a weekend price of $50. These passes are available for advance purchase only. Additionally, as with all events at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, spectators will be able to ride for free on Monterey–Salinas Transit (MST). A shuttle schedule for MST on event weekends, including bus stops on the Monterey Peninsula and in Salinas, will be available at www.mst.org. “One of our main goals for the 2006 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix was to dramatically improve the traffic situation during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix,” said Campbell. “We strongly believe we’ve accomplished that. This will change Laguna Seca considerably for the MotoGP race. It will make it a lot easier on motorcyclists, and a lot harder on anyone coming in by car. Just purchased my LS tickets. The plan right now is for Laurie and me to ride the Uly from San Diego to San Luis Obispo on Thursday and catch the summer street fair that evening. Friday, we'll go through Fort Hunter Liggett, then down the back mountain way to Big Sur and then up to LS to meet up with American Sport Bike and fellow BRAG members at the Love Shack. Let me know if anyone is interested in riding together on Thursday. |
