Early September is primo. The Summer vacation traffic has waned, and the weather is good!

Don, Blake,
There had been some talk of doing the ride in June before the monsoon starts. Both Kim and Cheryl mentioned it if I remember correctly.

I recall there was talk of having it like the last week of June, but definitely before the 4th of July. I agree with Blake though that September might be a good choice, no tourists, still decent weather. Up in the Pacific NW it used to be September to mid-October was a great time for the locals because the weather was good and the crowds were gone.

Side question, how's the weather in the 4-corners region and the south end of Colorado in late March usually? That might be when I'm bringing my M2 home. Just looking for a general guideline on the weather, thanks.

Brad,

We are thinking about June 20-22. But we also like Blakes September idea, maybe the 5-7. We would like some input on these dates.

There are three AMA race weekends Pikes Peak, Road America, and Brainard in June. Also one Formula USA race Loudon. The 20-22 is the only non race time period. Cheryle and I are thinking about going to the Brainard race as we have not been to that track yet. Any chance you would be able to join us?

Mikej,

March is the month that we usually see the most snow. You might want to go buy way of El Paso and stop by and see Buelliedan.

Hello Kim and All:
Well look what I started just by reading and asking WHY? Kim, we really enjoyed the shin-dig you all hosted this last July, even with the rain, sleet, snow, oh yeah and hail!
Mt Evans
My personal preference would be the June time frame if your best guess is that the weather might be better.
Either way I'll need to defend my rights as a Buelligan and convince my other half that all I am really doing in CO is being a Buelligan and enjoing the great roads and other Buelligans!

Kim,
Great to hear from you!!!
As far as the BIR race goes, "you betcha".
In fact I'll offer you a place to stay in Mpls on the way up if you want.

I think I would prefer the June time slot but Sept would also work.

Man, the calander is aready filling up!

Unfortunately I won't be able to make any summer dates because of work. HOWEVER, being a former Colorado mountain resident, I agree that September would be the best weather. Not to mention a definate decline in traffic.

How soon can a date be set? I'm interested in working on the planning for a unofficial "homecoming". I think it would be best to plan one on each end of the calander. The BRAG California trip is in May and the Pocono trip is in late August. Homecoming in July?

Just some thoughts.

WooHoo!
Mark in on the calender. Now if we can just find a way to get Aarons Dyno and have Cap come to help set-up suspensions!!! Maybe Aaron would allow me to come up to his "cabin" and take a few passes on the dyno while doing some exhaust comparisons for FI bikes.

Colorado Ride Fest 2002
June 20, 21, & 23
Thursday, Friday & Saturday
@ Breckenridge, CO

This year the rally name has changed. After last years rally we discovered that another
event in Colorado had a similar name. Rather than have future conflict we decided to ask
Blake if it was ok to use the Ride Fest name. (He graciously consented, THANK YOU
BLAKE).

Like last year the rally will be centered at Longbranch condos in Breckenridge. Kim is the
on-site manager.
Each condo has a full kitchen, bathrooms, living rooms and bedrooms. It may have 1
bedroom-1 bath; or 2 bedroom, 2 bath; or a 2 bedroom loft, 2 or 3 bathrooms. We have
an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and an indoor parking garage.

For those guys who like/need to wrench on their bikes, Kim has a maintenance room
where oil changes and minor maintenance can be done.

Ask for a discount when making reservations.
When you get confirmation of your reservation, please READ it carefully.
You will need to know where to check-in and get keys.
THERE IS NO CHECK-IN AT THE COMPLEX.
WE DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS HERE, PLEASE CALL THE FOLLOWING

Minor maintenance, Ha!! With that many buellers in one place, it wouldn't surprise me if an engine got tore down to the crank and reassembled in an evening in Kim's maintenance room. Last year, at least two rocker box jobs got done in there, and some other fixes to boot. I did a lot of work on my crashed S3 getting it ready to drive back to CA. Kim and Cheryle are the most gracious of hosts, finer folks you won't find.

Al,
Ya beat me to the punch!
I was going to say the same thing!
I know a brake rotor was done also. Seems to me a certain bike that went for an "ice ride" may have use the "shop" also :).

Yep, "minor" is a relative term, depending on the tools available, the crew available, and so forth. Changing a turn signal bulb is "major" work to some, while swapping out a clutch is "minor" to others.

I'm going to try and be there this year with a bike this time :). Got some major changes happening in my life, but I've got the event on my calender. Should be a good time.

Hope all are having a great Christmas, or whatever you are doing today. Go for a ride if you can, there's got to be good roads somewhere.

Actually the brake rotor was done under my campers awning while it was raining. I was one of those rocker box jobs done in the shop however. Still holding strong 4,000 miles later!! :)

New Years Day, A fine day to ride here in Phoenix, days like this, I'm glad I'm not in Colorado. :o) Sorry to say, I'll miss y'all this June as I'll be up in New Hampshire doing the Laconia Motorcycle Classic. While I had a good time last year, the freezing rain chills these old bones just a tad. I'll wave if I see ya on the way back through in July. Keep the rubber side down and your face in the wind.

Hello,

Vacation this year two weeks to ride. New Buell rider, took my SECA over the rockies six years ago. Anyone going out there (Colorado) from Wisconsin? or DuPuke (Dubuque) or Chicago or Minneapolis for that matter? Would love to hook up and go.

Charlotte,
IAMike and I made the trip last year.
I left from Mpls and hooked up with Mike part way to DesMoines.
I am planning on the trip again this year. I think Mike is going out early with the family.
There are a couple of other folks from the area talking about making the trip.

Have you thought about the "Meet In the Middle" in April? It's down by Omaha. There is another thread around here on that topic.
