I didn't think the paint job looked bad, I just thought you were going for a stealth 117 or Duc Dark look!
I knew it was a work in progress.
If only I knew???? Are there more stories to tell???
BBQ 4/10 absolutely fine by me!
I might have a substitute lined up to take my spot the last few days of the Fair so O-fast is looking better for me now.

there are always stories...some of them are even vaguely based on the truth.

cool beans, looking forward to the BBQ, and great news about Oktoberfast. : )

here are a few pix from a quick spin around the neighborhood after work this afternoon.

our weather has been particularly grumpy and irritable of late (come to think of it, so have i...), and it was great get back in the wind and discover i still remembered the shift pattern.

my buddy Dino's been gettin' all the glory of late with his wonderful photography (deservedly so), and this stuff doesn't hold a small Maglite to his, but it was still fun to get out and exercise the old mind's eye for a spell.

btw...it's one down and four up. : )

Ferris,
Got an IL Mississippi River spike to send you, along with some other stuff that is WAY overdue. I am praying that stuff works our for the Arizona trip, as of now work is crushing me, no time to ride or play on Badweb (245 miles on a Firebolt I've had for TWO weeks, but DAMN she's a sweet machine). Hopefully the tractor 'elves' come through and get the stuff done we need to so I can get that time off. We've 3 new products due to be released, our deadline for FEA work is the 15th... Way to close by my standards.

BTW,
Had an older couple over for steaks and brewsikes this evening (30+ my age), showed them some pics form THE TRIP, and loved the Lake. They're looking for a place out west, told them to look at Kernsville and Lake Isabella, it's God's country.

I dig the yellow. It'll give us all something to chase through the turns.
Alex

a couple of miles further up the Lion's Trail (which you can see down below twisting its way up the mountainside), looking out over the Kern River Valley.

well sir, maybe THESE will suffice? : )

the North Fork of the Kern River, near Johnsondale. beyond here lies the Golden Trout Wilderness and Mt. Whitney.

------------------------------------

Monday was my sister Lisa's birthday. not long before she took her life several years ago she paid a visit to the Kern River Valley, and had a wonderful time.

as did i.

i took her for a grand driving tour that day, on these very roads, and we laughed and giggled like, well, like a brother and sister with nary a care in the world.

i miss her. i wish i could talk to her and make her change her mind.

on the way back home tonight i stopped briefly at Fairview, at the site of the former Road's End Resort. we had stopped here on our road trip that day and had ice cream, smelled the flowers, and played with the resident cat.

and we laughed and giggled.

i stopped at Fairview tonight, and lowered the rear foot pegs. climb on, Lisa, we're going for a motorcycle ride.

and we laughed and giggled.

------------------------------------

a friend of ours is hurting tonight, and i have a fair idea of what he is going thru. i hope he can make it thru this very difficult time, make to the point where even thru the sorrow he can remember the laughter and the giggles.

your friend,
FB

Where ever the next corner takes you my friend she will alway's be there with you. : )

To borrow a phrase, it will always be a "Healing Road" untill that day comes when we can meet up again with those friends and loved ones who have passed on before us.

Jerry you let the cat outta the bag!!!!!
Blue is good!
But it will be harder for Sandblast and I to keep you in sight

Life is a great gift no matter if you've lived a little or a lot. Many of those who meant the most to me are gone now, all before what should have been their time. When I think of those who are gone who meant so much I am reminded of the family and friends who remain in my life. I am thankful for the times I had with those gone, and for the times I've had, and will have, with those still here.
Hang in there friend.

here's s'more fuel for Tripper's "ihateferriscause..." fire ( : ) ), taken this afternoon when a 20-minute trip to the credit union turned into a two-hour strafe of the neighborhood.

two youngin's enjoying the south fork of the Kern River. not sure where they came from -- there was no car nearby (besides, i don't think they were old enough to legally drive) -- and the nearest farm is at least a mile away.
