Dan43Blast: You outa try using the chrome versions that come with the twin Buells. If it's shiny black, give it a good scuffing. That helped me better see the oil level on my M2's chrome dipstick.

Hi everybody,
i just wanted to tell some things about service at some dealers: first i have to explain, that i needed a pinion-gear for my Buellster (Buell engine in sportster frame) and that this item is not longer available from Harley, you can get it only together with the cams and the cover.

Because i live in Germany i first tried to get it here. Some dealers tried to get on but failed. One dealer got one (but 2 numbers bigger) but refused to stay in his shop for 15 minutes more (opening hours are normaly from 10 to 6:30/7:00 - he wanted to close at 3:30 that day) and told me "come on Monday" - it was wednesday...
OK, this was no offical Harley-Dealer.

Next try: Harley of H.. : the guy promised to look for a pinion-gear and to call me as soon as he got some information, latest at the end of the week. Now this is 3 weeks ago...

I posted a message in the technical area here in the bbs and got very soon a reply of Jmart who told me the number of his dealer. (THANKS Jose!)
His dealer got one, but 2 numbers smaller.

So i called Harley (the company) and a friendly woman told me that she would do a "dealer-research" with the given OEM-No. After 2 minutes she gave me 11 (eleven!!!) telephone numbers of dealer in the us that should have "my" pinion gear in stock. She also told me that there will be no garanty for the information.

I called the first dealer: "sorry, no pice in stock"...

The second dealer: "Yes, we´ve go one!"
That was Valley Harley Davidson in California.
I ordered the gear on wednesday last week and received it yesterday! (That´s fast i guess!)
Since yesterday 20:30 my baby runs again!!

So, if anybody of you who reads this is questioning "what is the guy trying to say here??": It´s just a (long) "thank you" for your help and the service of Valley Harley, Harley Davidson Company and everyone who make the BBS work.

Ride safe,

Christian

..here´s a second one:
As you can read above i tried to get a pinion gear (oem 24057-91) and even Harley in milwauki told me that it is not any longer available.

Now: yesterday i had a look in the 2001 Screaming Eagle Catalog and - what surprise: at the SE Cams for Sportsters there it stood: "..models from ´00 on require a pinion gear -´99". - Hmmm, so Harley sells cams that need a pinion gear that is not to get. Good thing!

So, if any of you factory-people read this: think about it.
But never the less i appreciate your service helping me to finaly find one!

If Harley Davidson is peering in here from time to time!!!!!

Why would you cancel your AMA superbike program!!!!! I understand that the vr1000 is not the type of bike you wish to sell to your normal harley clientel!!!

SO DO THE RIGHT THING WITH YOUR 98% CONTROL OF BUELL! GIVE US BUELL RIDERS SOMETHING TO CHEER FOR, SINCE YOU TOOK THE CLOSEEST THING WE HAD, AND PUT A BUELL MOTORCYCLE IN THE AMA SUPERBIKE CLASS!!!!

you just signed Picotte to a 3 year deal before this season!! Imagine the possibilies of Pascal on an Eric Buell creation!!!!!!!
