>>>Here in Oz they have a dedicated test fleet which they send around to the dealerships on a rotational basis.

Similar to that in the USA. In addition, at one time, dealers were required to keep a Buell as a demo bike. That was at a time when the range was much narrower.

Things may be in flux in Australia as the Press Launch was moved back something on the order of 5 weeks.

I'd contact your dealer and see if they have information. I'm not sure there are 1125R retail units in country yet.

There is currently a demo 1125r at Morgan & Wacker in Brisbane. It is a demo bike, they are taking orders for bikes(I didn't dare ride it in case I liked it too much ; ) ). I think they said they have one at the Gold Coast store as well.

I have a 2008 Uly with about 3000 miles on it and I like everything about the bike except the key location. It's very inconvenient and should be relocated to the top triple clamp like most other bikes.

Okay Eric, I don't know if you're listening, but here's my two cents......

As a child, I heard of your amazing bikes. Rumors where that supposedly buyers had to come out to your barn and get the bike "fitted" to them. That was awesome. Skip ahead a few years. My dad bought a millenium x1 #40, and promptly (1 year) sold it to me b/c it hurt his back. I loved that bike despite its rear shock issues and oil leaks. The XB was a great bike..... The 1125r is exceptional. Now my gripes!

Where is the full fairing bike? You havent had a competitive full faired bike in ages, yet you build your bikes to perfection chassis wise. No other person could get a boat anchor to move like you, and now that you have a ferrari for a motor I would like to have a mid and belly to go with it.

And what about special models? I haven't seen a special model since the XB, unless you count the non-street legal RR. No hand signed fairings.... No limited models.

I want an upgraded model or a model that is full faired..... Or a funky color pattern like the old days....

Nuclear blue? BEAUTIFUL
Millenium silver? AWESOME
Racing stripe model theme? Comon, where is the style? The "CHARACTER". The extra inch that made Buell so badass in the first place?
Why not a one-off

Mr. Buell

Having owned Buells since 99, we can only say Thank You for a unique family of bikes.

Our most current Buell will be an 09 Uly which was order at 9:00 AM on the morning they were available to the Dealer.

However, the X and possibly XT would greatly benefit, in our opinion with a wheel size more off road friendlier, ie 18" rear, 19" front.

Granted the Uly is not an OFF Road Bike, however the 17" tire limits the choices for decent gravel and fire road tires.

The Uly can go anywhere the BMW GS family of Big Trailies go, but at a better price and a more unique attitude.

Thank You

Now, if only I could get an autograph on my bike since I haven't gotten it at the last two Homecomings....

Erik-thanks so much for building great unique bikes for those of us that don't want to blend in. My #1 request for my Uly: make a version with the low saddle, then add back the 1.5" into suspension travel, and either give it 18/19" wheels or get someone to make 17" knobbies (I have to think all the supermoto bikes would constitute a market for those tires too!). Perhaps these changes would constitute a new model; the Ulysses XXX or perhaps just an optional upgrade. Other than that limitation, love it. Best bike ever for me, chose it over a BMW GS (despite tire limitations). I ride it to work every day with a smile on my face :-))
Richard, in Arkansas for now.

So are you saying that Erik should not have an interest in how his machines are/are not marketed Blake?

I would have thought that the more backsides that you put onto the seat of the bike the more widely known and desired it will become.

Maybe not a post for the factory but one definately for Mr Buell.

My Uly tales of woe,

I have a 2007 uly. In September, I had a chance to head to Las Vegas for a couple of months, and rightly decided to ride my bike there. I left home with just 15k on the bike.

After being there for a month, I had electrical trouble, lost the gauges and lights, so I took it in to the dealer. They replaced the stator, after a week of parts being on backorder I was back on the road.

Three weeks after the initial failure, I had the same problem. I took the bike back to the dealer, and there it sits. The diagnosis was dead stator. The dealer told me that they would be replacing additional parts, which ones I don't know.

That was on November 2, and I still don't have my bike back. I had to leave Vegas on Nov 13, and have spoken to the dealer a couple of times, but still no bike. They tell me that they are still waiting on back ordered parts.

The dealer tells me that they are aware of the connector 77 problem, but couldn't give me an answer about why this happened twice in a couple of weeks.

I know that a number of uly owners have had this problem, and I've seen various resolutions, but I not happy. I think there are enough instances of this problem that we should have a definitive statement from Buell Inc.

Am I wrong?

Istone, just a stab in the dark, but based on what has happened to others, it looks like they never replaced your Voltage Regulator. The Voltage Regulator fails, causing the stator to over charge and fail. So when they replaced the stator, they never replaced the VR, so it’s treating the symptoms not the problem.

Just my 2 cents, I am not a tech.

It should not take weeks to get these parts, unless Buell happens to be out, which I doubt. Make sure you dealer isn't doing something like only ordering Buell parts once a week (this happens.)

Thanks guys. The bad news is that I"m now 2500 miles away, so it's hard to get them to be responsive. Nothing beats showing up at the service desk.

My original question still stands, is it reasonable to have to wait, at this point, three weeks, to get your bike fixed?

No, short of some unforeseen obstacle. It is possible they are short staffed and have other bikes that have been sitting there for a month too.

Like Jlnance said, short of Buell being back ordered, which can and does happen, the dealer can usually have the part within 2 or 3 days.

Huge Thank You to Erik and all his staff!

I have only had my 03 XB9S for about 2 years now, but I can say with 100% certainty that it is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

To keep it short....
Erik and staff, you have designed and built the best brand of bikes on the road!

You hold extremely true to "Different in every sense". Most folks do not get it. Which is okay with me as I do not ever want to see Buell as a "cookie-cutter" bike. But I DO want to see BMC grow!
Which it seems to be doing very well.

I LOVE my 03 XB, It is a truly unique bike that gets tons of attention!
If it wasn't for Buell, I would have never ventured into creating XB Lights, which is now getting busier and busier by the day.
I have had MANY people tell me I need to start building lights for Jap bikes, but I just don't have the "want-to" to do it.

I don't think building a light to be installed on anything but a Buell would be worth my time. Could I make more $$...of course. But some things in life are not all about the $$ and I think you would agree with that Erik. You have to pay the bills, but have to be happy at the same time.
With every light I build, I cross my fingers I will get an email with a picture of the owners bike, just so I can see another one of the Buell's out there with something on it that I helped get there!

I can only imagine how you feel every time you see one on the roads! I just about wreck every time I see one, trying to break my neck to get the best look at it possible!

Long story short!
Erik please keep up the good work!
Please keep your staff in high morale and keep it safe out there!
One day I will get to meet you in person!
(gotta have you sign Court and Daves book, which is an AWESOME book!)
Also if you ever want an LED light I'll give YOU a big discount

Thanks again!

God bless ya Erik Buell!!! I only started getting into bikes my late teens/early 20's. I had firneds that had bikes, I rode them. Gixxers, CBRs, etc. When it comes to vehicles though, I wanted something American. I only drive Fords, and being young I wanted a "crotchrocket" haha really bad. I looked around, until I saw the Firebolt. Love at first sight. Checked craigslist, ebay, Buell forums every day, 4,5,6 times a day to find a Bolt close by here in Maryland. Found one in PA. Never rode any Buell before. Got a loan, bought a beautiful XB9R, full fairing from Hals, Jardine can, custom paint. First time I rode it was after I had bought it, loaded it into my F-150 and drove the 3 hours home. Took it for a "test drive" on private property of course, since title wasnt transfered and no tag ; ) Friggin BLAMMO. The torque, the handling, the SOUND, not even ever riding the bike and buying one, I knew I made the right choice. Its an addiction now, the Firebolt should be classified as a controlled substance like crack!! Not only is the bike awesome, the company is awesome. American sport bikes, taking it back for Uncle Sam. These bikes got soul, like apple pie, Bud Light and monster truck shows. Sure I can't go 170, but I can get to 130 hellafast with the air cooled American muscle beast underneath me. I'm 22, and I will be a loyal Bueller for life. I'll upgrade to an 1125R in a couple years, and when my bones get old I'll be hitting up a Uly or Lightning. Its also a sense of pride, anytime anyone asks what bike is that, or what do you ride, I tell them Buell Firebolt. Yeah, its badass. I got a Harley crotchrocket, American sportbike. Your a true patriot Erik, keep up the good work!

ps- forget IL4, stick with Vtwins!

Keep up the great work. I already have an XB and my next bike will be an XT. Yep, I'm hooked.

How about a translucid hero blue flyscreen for the Uly/XT?

And I know the 1125 is a kick ass bike - but please for the love of all that is holy, never get rid of the lump.

thx
