I just wanted to send a kudos to the factory for the little bit of ad campaign I have seen thus far. I open my September issue of Playboy tonight and get to page 13 and when I flip it over I see a full page ad featuring a Black '04 XB12R Firebolt in a twistie being followed by an '04 XB9R Firebolt! The caption reads: "For These Few Seconds Your Not Thinking About Sex, Money Or Down-Shifting" lol I love it! I don't care what anyone says Advertising in Playboy is some major exposure! Great job guys!! :)

I have been treated as the "bastard child" at many Buell dealers in the northern New York area. They would love to roll the bike out into the street but have signed a contract with HD that only allows them to ignore you and treat you really bad. I use a non-Buell dealer who is outstanding, North-End repair in Plattsburgh, NY. Problem is parts. Can anyone here tell me a dealer who will ship parts and deserves my business? American Sport Bike is OUTSTANDING but factory stuff I have not found. (Who's Dave??)

Adks,
DaveS is Dave Steuve from Waterloo, IA Buell. He is a true Buell supporter who deserves all of the business we can throw his way. They are listed in the sponsors at the bottom of the main page. He is at a Buell rally until Friday however so please wait till then to call him.

Adks,

Instead of Dave, you can give Craig (PsychoBueller) there a call. He should be able to help you out.

I've ordered several things from them, it always arrives promptly and they'll give you a 10% BadWeb discount that usually covers the shipping charge (plus there's no sales tax!)

Thanks Darthane, but I am not an employee at Dave's dealership. That's another Craig. I live in New Jersey.

Ahh, my bad...well, in any event, there is a Craig that works there that Dave seems to like, so no harm in talking to him.

His name IS Craig, isn't it? This is what I get for opening my mouth!}

I did get back Thursday but spent the day with my wife instead of going to work.
I am back now!

Yes, if anyone needs Buell stuff they can talk to me or Craig. If neither of us is available talk to Josh in the parts dept. He's getting pretty good at the Buell stuff too!

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

Blast Service Manual Omissions

I don't recall seeing anything on (dis)assembling the shift shaft / pawl assembly. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place.

Also, I haven't been able to find torque specs on the intake manifold allens.

A few of us blastards are noticing a rash of bikes with loose detent screws - and they seem to be on 2001 bikes. Might be coincidence.

Any news on the EVAP stuff?

I had my XB9R since May 02 and have done 4 track days, short day trips (300+miles) and lots of rides.
I have the factory race kit on and have dyno-ed it twice 80+ hp at the wheel-enough to do anything I want.I'm very satisfied with this bike and would recommend it.

Dear HD/Buell,

Has been 24 days since I ordered and paid for the Buell Accessory Saddle for my Y2K X1 and still no saddle or communication.

The folks at Hal's inform me that it is still listed as a current item, it is not out of stock, it is a Manufacturer direct special order and it comes from the same firm that makes all HD/Buell saddles right here in Milwaukee.

Bottom line is I am experiencing my first delay that cannot be blamed on UPS and can only assume that this order and perhaps many more HD/Buell accessory saddle orders has been put on the back burner by the manufacturer so they can meet their quota on supplying new production saddles to HD/Buell.

If true, that is a real disservice to your existing customers. The fortunate inverse is that I have never experienced any delays with stock parts coming from the Franklin Distribution Center.

Therefore, I suggest that you either reconsider your position concerning inventorying a minimum quantity of accessory parts in the Franklin Distribution Center or indicate an approximate lead time to handle and ship these special orders on the HD/Buell/Dealer computer network and in both your printed and online accessory catalogs.

E-mail me the part number you order, where you ordered it and the date of the order.

Somethings not right in Denmark (with apologies to Henrik :) )

Court:

You have mail. Still think it is simple matter of the new model year and the HD 100th coinciding.

Simply would like the factory to rethink the issue so that future accessory and parts customers either don't experience or feel they are experiencing abnormal lead times.

As you know, communications is a valuable tool that is often overlooked in many situations.

Thanks,

Bill Neveling

Day 26 and no saddle yet. However, I was pleasantly surprised today at Hal's HD/Buell.

Did a little Buell Tipping last night at a stop on sandy, oily asphalt and went to Hal's today and picked up the parts I needed to put the bike back to normal.

I think that says something really special about Hal's commitment to Buell and their parts inventory.

Another thing is as I have posted a while back, I am extremely impressed with the availability and pricing on Buell replacement parts via the Franklin DC.

Just wish the saddle came from the Frankin DC rather than manufacturer direct. But then, this just may be the way accessories for discontinued models is done.

Day 27 and I got great news from Court Canfield. Thanks to Court and the folks at Buell, the Sig O should be all nice and comfy real soon.

Isn't it great when something finally comes together. Just wish I had not felt the need to post the issue.

Then again, with all the internal advances HD/Buell are undergoing, issues such as this should go away soon.

Court, thanks again for the communications interface.

Bill, did you go on a tour of the Franklin facility? Pretty cool setup. $39 million in inventory, 22,000 different parts, 36,000 part locations. Like 1 massive christmas wish book.

Wish I had had the time. Have been through a number of high tech computerized distribution centers in the consumer products industry. All are fascinating, but the level of efficiency is what varies considerably.

LMAO...33 days and still no saddle. Betcha it will be here in the next two days. That is if UPS can find Hal's under all the trash left by the 100th revelers.

Yahoo...The Pegasus Accessory Two Up Saddle finally arrived at Hal's today. The fit, finish and comfort is outstanding. Congrats to whomever designed and manufactured it.

FYI, I learned I can't count. It was only 30 days from order to receipt at Hal's and 7 of those were shipping from HD, Compton, CA to Hal's, New Berlin, WI.

Also am looking forward to tease a few of my friends in the engineering and quality control department at HD, plus the Hal's folks. Seems they all claimed the saddle is manufactured by the same firm that makes all the HD saddles here in Milwaukee (Brown Deer). I guess not as it was a manufacturer direct order and was shipped from Compton, CA.

Hmmm...if that is Travelcade, the quality of their product has improved immeasurably since the last aftermarket saddle I bought from them. Anyone have a clue who the real manufacturer is?

I'm wondering what paint is used on the Blast Pro Series pipe - and if that's the same paint used on other black Buell pipes. Paint code? Part number? Hint?

Also, should I ask about the Ca Evap thing?

Besides the fact I have lost total faith in the H-D single point of contact and tech service's ability to help me in my quest for Buell part numbers and assistance. I need some special help from all those special anony's out there.
I need to know if there are part numbers available for XB12 .005 over and .010 over pistons. They list part numbers for the rings that size but no pistons.
Now I hope these rings are not the solution for boring.
Any help would be aprriciated.
Thanks in advance,
Spidey

I don't know about motorcycles, but in automotive engines, a .005 ring is considered a "file fit". They come in handy if a piston manufacturer specifies a different piston ring end gap than the typical .004 per 1" of bore. As for a .010, don't know.
