Has anybody thought of using the XB9S wiring harness on the XB9R, relocate the fuses under the seat, leaving that space in the fairing for the old S3 fairing bags?????

Not much room under the S seat. Also, the ECM on the R is in the fairing, not under the seat, so you'd have to move that under there too. Good idea, but I really doubt it would all fit. The review I read said there wasn't even enough room under there for a pair of gloves. From the picture in the article, I don't doubt it. I wonder if Ventura will make a rack for the XB like they make for the tubers?

Dan asked:
Court,

The answer would most likely be "yes", and would probably include a side trip past the factory just to help keep this thread on topic much to the amusement of the Moderator. ;)

He'd probably even post a pic showing the bike in East Troy, then 12 hours later in Colorado. :)

Wait, Dan posted that on the 19th, today's the 21st, shoot Dan look out in your driveway and see if he's arrived yet.

To the factory: keep doin' what you're doin'.

One accessory I think would look good and sell would be a cover for the rear section of the seat on the XB9S it needs a touch of yellow in the back. The black bike looks fine .

Smitty,
Before I bought my XB9R, I thought about getting the XB9S. I really like the more traditional look the front has, but I didn't like the tail section. So I went into Photoshop to see if I could make it into something I liked. I was thinking it could have storage space built in, if done the way I was thinking. I did buy the "R" however because it's a beautiful bike all it's own, and I do like the riding position. Getting a great deal on the "R" that wasn't being offered on the "S" didn't hurt either. Anyway, here is the image of my idea.

XB9S w/tialsection

Is that what you were thinking?

Does anybody know if the Buell Briefcase that's made for the S3, can be fitted to an S1 with a different strap?
If yes, is there a part number for the S1 strap please?
Thank you.

Peter,
I have a S3, S1, the briefcase and computer bag.
Should I just throw the bag on the S1 and see how it looks?

Peter,

If I remember correctly, one of the bags you bought used for your M2 had the wrong strap. It was the same strap that I have for the S1 Briefcase. Did you give it up with the M2?

I tried it but it didn't look too secure.

Steve,
You're right. I had forgotten about that one. It's still in the tankbag, so I'll give it a try.
Thanks mate.

I lost ANOTHER speedo sensor this morning. That makes three in less than two months. I had a filter on the power wire on this one (which blows THAT theory). I'm beginning to get a little bent about this. If it was reasonably priced, I'd just buy a hand full and move on. This is a $50 part. It shouldn't be. It's just a hall effect sensor. Nothing complicated.

I realize that it is a HD part, and you guys have no control over it. I refuse to believe that it is an engineering problem. Who manufactures these things? Have they ever heard of quality control? The second sensor I had lasted three years. If it was a bad design, it would not have lasted that long.

Is something being done to address this issue?

Thanks for lurking (really)

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Just curious, you mentioned buying a third sensor in less than two months. Don't new parts come with some sort of warranty? At least 90 days or something? You might want to look into that.

Jeff,
Something sounds really wrong. I have never(knock on wood) had to replace the speedo sensor on either of my FI bikes. This is electronic right? Sounds like a short or power spike or something like that.

Yes, it's the X1. Stubbs Cycle in Houston replaced one a few months ago that shorted and left me stranded, and when it went out, they replaced it free of charge. However, I spliced a filter into that one, and I'm sure I've voided any kind of warranty by doing it. Like I said, the second one I bought lasted for three years. Maybe when it shorted, it took out something in the speedo? It still works (with a good sensor)

No warranty on electrical parts...at least we don't. :( I guess the school of thought is that you don't really know wether the customer accidentally fried the component. Not doubting anyone's abilities, don't get me wrong...just the way most all the guys at the parts counter feel about it.

For the Factory and B.R.A.G. :

Hello,

With people planning their annual vacations, and with H.O.G. and Harley-Davidson going full-force on the 100th anniversary shindig in Milwaukee and surrounding areas, and with knowing that one local dealership is in full swing on planning their activities for the summer, and with a rumor that another local dealership has apparently bought up all the parking spots and sidewalks in their small township for the end of August, it just seems to be awfully quiet on the "official" Buell front as to what's in the planning stages that's Buell related during the end of August.

Last year's Homecoming was cancelled to allocate all resources to this upcoming summer's events. So, what and when are those events? Is there any chance that Buell.com can be updated to at least hint at what might be in the works? Otherwise some of us might plan to be elsewhere and do otherwise than stick around Harley-town around the end of August.

Help, the boss wants my vacation schedule.
Thank you, thank you very much. :)

And I promise not to say what I saw on a secluded road the other day.

Mike,
Somehow I have this bad feeling that the only official activities going on are the HOG stuff and that us Buellers are just being thought of as a nuisance to their lifestyle. Ever since the last Homecoming in which you already saw the "writing on the wall" there has been very little Buell only activities. I did not renew my BRAG membership this year as it seems like they are providing nothing anymore.

Dan,
I didn't renew my BRAG in August for the same reason. Another reason is the poor dealer support for our local BRAG chapter.
There was nothing returned for the membership $$ except a pin to wear.

Bummer....

Uhhhh.....you didn't get the hint was Leslie was "promoted to HD"?

Frankly, B.R.A.G. pretty much has never grown wings for a host of reasons. It's s subject that's been beat to death and that's unlikely to change in the coming 10 months.

The very good news is that there is no shortage of fabulous opportunities to commune with, argue with and play with fellow Buell enthusiasts.

Ergo....kep your eye, for now, on the portion of the glass that is half full and be planning to be at Bonneville next year.

Remember that discussion we had last month about you still having ownership of the "Buell Owners Club" name? Maybe its time to bring it back!!!
