Congrats to Erik Buell and staff !
If you can get your hands on a January copy of Cycle Canada magazine, read the best article yet on the Las Vegas testrides. CC mag has never had much good to say about Buell (or Harley) being very subjective and honest in their writing, and favoring highly engineered, reliable sportbikes. But they were very excited about the Firebolt calling it the best handling sportbike yet and pure joy to ride. Even the trans survived 'clutchless' shifting. Although, they do wonder where the market is for such a bike. I would quote parts of the article more accurately but don't have the mag in hand at the moment. Overall, a very positive review. Very exciting!

I found this statement on another bbs and wanted everyone who loves their tube framed Buell to read it.

Harley Announces Model Changes

Ken Freund
Rider Report
Tuesday January 29, 2002

Harley-Davidson has announced some of its plans for future models early. Following is the text of a press release:

"First, to help us meet anticipated demand for Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Models, we will extend the 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle production model year by two months (to 14 months total). The two months will be added to the end of the 2003 model year, which will have the effect of shortening the 2004 model year by two months.

The Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Models will feature three new anniversary colors (one two-tone and two solid colors) and trim appropriate for the occasion. While all 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycles will be 100th Anniversary Models, none will be numbered as limited edition models.

Second, when we begin full production of 2003 Buell Firebolt XB9Rs this spring, it will mark the end of production of all tube-frame twin-cylinder models (Cyclone M2, Lightning X1 and Thunderbolt S3T). 2002 tube-frame models will be in showrooms this summer, but when they’re gone…they’re gone.

We are not prepared to provide any further details about next season’s Harley-Davidson or Buell motorcycles at this time."

I want the people who run BMC to know the reasons we bought bikes like the M2. I know I bought mine because it was different from any other product and offers a very versatile bike that is still very fun to ride (unlike UJM's). I hope Buell continues to build a bike like the M2 even without the tube frame.

I will mourn the loss of the beautiful tube/truss framed Buells. I look forward to seeing the offerings Buell has in store to fill the void left by the M2 and S3.

Glad to have a place to publicly say thanks to John at Buell cust svc - he actually listened to what I had to say, and promptly offered a solution for my problem. It really was just that easy, after numerous trips to the dealer to no avail. Outstanding job, John. Thanks.

That's a nice sentiment Kevin. Glad to see someone stump up some positive stuff for Buell.
