A few weeks ago i looked at the Buell website and saw my Dealer(20 miles one way from me), no longer carried Buell.Today i checked the site again because my 2nd closest dealer(30 miles)was listed in a thread on this site a few weeks ago as selling off a bunch of Buell clothing on E-bay.They are also now Not listed as a Dealer.I've not been to either of these shops recently to confirm they no longer carry Buell, but if it's true my nearest dealer is now 55 miles away(that's one way).

I had a "Buell Dealer" about 10 minutes from me, and a *real* Buell dealer about 60 miles away. After about the 4th cluster *&^% with the local one, I just drove to the good one.

Guess what? After the consolidation, my nearest dealer is the one that is 60 miles away. Had Buell done this sooner, I would have been saved a LOT of grief. I was trying to help the local dealer succeed, it was a waste of my time and money.

Just for grins I stopped at the 'nearest' Buell dealer and found out that the other 'nearest' Buell dealer had sold their remaining inventory and was dropping the Buell line entirely...leaving just this one dealer in about a 100 mile radius...

to my complete surprise, not one but two of the sales person's on the floor were Buell enthusiasts, had actually attended Buell hosted training and sales seminars, spoke with knowledge about all the Buell bikes and gasp...offered to gas up any of the three bikes on the floor for a demo ride and offered up the XB12S sitting just outside the main entry way for demo ride!! I politely declined the offer as I was expected at a dinner function but the offer as I understood stands.

Meanwhile, my S2 was sitting in the parking spot next to the main entry and two 'ladies' who were presently riding Blast's and looking to upgrade to either the CityX or an XB9S were getting quite excited and seriously tugging on the boy friends/SO's to get the wheels rolling under them so they could enjoy some more riding time...apparently they liked the Parkway Blue S2T but felt it 'looked' a bit heavy and were really eager to get on the Buell train to funsville!! No attraction to the new Sportsters, really attracted to the translucent body works on the SX and the fabulous yellow on the 9S. The SX was a wee bit tall in the saddle for the one lass but the other was all over it!! Quite a contrast to the rather dowdy poser HD crowd in leather chaps, lugged boots, vests and dew rag skull-dana things standing beside their favorite model pointing out which pieces could be replaced with chrome accessory bits.

Bonus! Behind the CityX on the floor, there were Buell T-shirts and accessories(yes they had chrome and polished heel guards)...they were advertising the hat promotion and in the HD products section they were stocking Buell specific brake fluid. All of this a mere 7 miles from my home. Simply amazing.

Service? Didn't go there, felt it would be like asking for liquor at an Adventist convention.

I actually walked in to Carolina HD in Gastonia NC this past Wednesday and told the parts girl I'd like to order some parts for the M2. Her reply shocked me: "What you want? We may have it in stock."

I'm thinking, yea, right, of course you do :-) Bottom line was I had my parts in 5 minutes and was headed home to install.

Good on Carolina HD in Gastonia NC. Service Department Guru, Eric, is a big-time sportbike rider.

As far as I know now, Gateway to the West HD/Buell-- which is the newest store for Surdyke HD/Buell in Festus, MO(roughly 30 miles south from the Gateway store)-- will be the area's only Buell franchise...

The Festus location is where Erik hosted a 'tech-seminar' last spring and then fired up the band for the afternoon...

...I didn't ask whether or not they would be moving all the Buell bikes and Buell merchandise to the Gateway location but they have the floor space and the Riders Edge program(actually, I haven't checked this year's offerings...but it has been held at both locations in the past but the Gateway location--IMHO--has a better parking lot for the training and sufficient classroom space) and Gateway's central location to the St.Louis metro area make it pretty much ideal for a strong Buell marketing campaign.

I'd love to see an "Own The Corners" billboard prominent on I55 southbound!

Ted's or Burbouse Valley sold out?

Gateway was the one last year selling a left-over X1 for $11k.

We have in WA 5 in the area. All within 50 miles of each other. 3 within 20 miles of each other. I was racing down at Buttonwillow last November and my Penske shock broke and called every Harley dealer in the phone book and the closest dealer was about 100 miles from me. I couldn't believe how far away they were, especially in Cali.

BV...no X1's on the floor at Gateway...hopefully, HOPEFULLY, there is a new reality about pricing...didn't check pricing on XB's but don't expect it to be in the bargain range or to push the 'must have now' button...

I went to Cummins in Davidson tonight. They had 6 Buells on the floor and one used one(Big Price tag!) Two leather jackets and a dozen other things. The sales guys were OK with them, I went to try the Buell Hat coupon, the salesman sent me to the clothes girl, the clothes girl said I should see the sales guy and of course.....I left empty handed. Thats the closest Buell sales to me, 70 miles one way. The clothes girl was under the impression that they were trying to get rid of the line, contrary to what the sales guy said. Maybe I will go the other direction next time and see what that dealer is like.

Blasterd, *ONLY* 3? : )
Within 60 miles we have:
Hal's HD(about 8 miles from my house)
Racine HD
Uke's
House of Harley
Milwaukee Harley
Suburban Motors
Appleton HD
Saukville HD
Hartford HD
West Bend HD

Not sure, but I think Appleton HD is about 60 miles out from where I live, maybe a bit more. So yeah, we're lucky : )

Steve,
Saukville HD ?????
Drove through there last night and didn't see a Harley shop. Saw the Course shop from the freeway though, who seem to be advertising themselves more as Ozaukee Suzuki than Course Superbikes Ducati lately.

If you're thinking of the Sauk Harley/Buell out northwest of Madison then also include Capitol Harley/Buell as apparently they also sell Buell there. A few of their customers lurk on the site here and ambush people once in awhile. ; ) They tend to ride more than they post from what I've read. : )

Woops, you may be correct Mike. My bad...

But yeah, I forgot about Capitol HD.

So there are really 11 dealers in about an 80 mile radius : )

There's probably a few others neither of us know about. Their customers probably lurk as well. They'll probably ambush us at the WestBendBattletrax event, which will be right after we all ambush WB and say "surprise, we're here". Even if I don't sign up for any of the dinners or events I'll still probably wander by the Friday afternoon stuff just to say howdy.

And to think a year or two ago I was talking to a Milwaukee native who was looking at my Buell and saying he didn't know Buell was still in business. Oh well, what can you do, just like tailgators on the freeway, just tap the brake lights to try and wake them up. Life goes on, eventually it gets somewhere.

Oh, and if you include Daves' HD/Buell of Appleton you should also include Doc's which is something like 15 or so miles away (maybe 30) from Daves place. Is there one in Fond du Lac as well?

Within 60 miles we have:
House of Harley
Suburban Motors
West Bend HD

Have never seen a Buell sold out of the House yet, they have a few there but they definitely dont push the brand.

Suburban doesnt even have any Buells or parts there anymore. Sign is still up but thats about it. Was just in there about a month ago & did not see anything with Buell on it.

West Bend?? You are kidding right?

Suburban? I was in there I think two weeks ago and they had at least six new Buells on the floor, north end of the showroom floor. I'll be in Thiensville today, I'll have to stop and see if something changed in the last few weeks. They've actually been pretty good on Buell parts for me. Strange, two people go in, two different stories come out, oh well. I guess it's true - YMMV. ; )

Well to be truthful the day I was there the store was pretty well torn apart. They had the entire south area roped off & were working on it, so its possible they may have moved the Buells somewhere else. Kinda funny though that they didnt move any of the HD stuff off the floor, only the Buell items.

BTW..they have always been decent in the past in regards to parts for me also.

You might have been there when they were transitioning from their winter clearance mode to their pre-season spring sales mode.
I'll post a followup on Monday of what I find.
You'll probably be in Daytona.
In shirt sleeves.
In nice weather.
Having fun.
Riding.
Watching.
Enjoying the scenery.
Seeing the sights.
Doing stuff.
I will probably snow ten feet here.
If you find any Buell displays see if you can wiggle out what isn't there that was maybe supposed to possibly be there.
It's the least you could do because you'll be there and we'll be stuck here.

Have a safe trip.
mike.

Perfect.
And remember - golf carts have the right of way down there. : )

We used to have freeway interchange clover leaf races many years ago way out west. Wonder what they do down there. I'll have to get to a BikeWeek one of these years.
