In fact they coined the Streetfighter term didn't they?

I dont think so, i belive Ducati came up with the term first, however to be honest i am not for sure, when did BUell start using it??

Huh? Buell has only been in the same bed with HD since what - '98? Give 'em a little bit of time eh?

Actually i personally belive that the 2 companies have been joined in some fashion from the begining, however there were 2 buy in periods, and i have a letter from Mr. Buell stating when the first buying took place, just not sure where it is at the moment, when i find it your welcome to a copy

BUell coming out with 2 new models?
where did you hear that. has your mom been reading you stories again to get you to go to bed!

I will take that bet in this public forum, the question is how much, and if your going to be at homecoming so i can collect, just let me know, by the way it was anounced at the Dealer show, so its a suckers bet, but i will still take em

I count it as '98 rather than '92, because for me, that action signified their full confidence and support for the Buell line. I look at the '92 buy-in as a let's see how things go move (relative of course to how much of the company that Erik wanted to relinquish of course).

I hope one of those 2 models is a full faired XBR with ohlins suspension, oversquare motor, and that nifty eight piston brake caliper. Make it Blue, keep the graphics tasteful and keep those kickass gold wheels (they'll look nice with the ohlins).

I think that's close to exactly what you'll see JScott, but I'd say with Showa suspension... The entire HD line as I recall is showa. I do think we'll finally see an XB1350R. I also think it'll have somewhere in the neighborhood of 110 RWHP.

YMMV...

The only reason I thought perhaps ohlins, was that the race team ditched the showas laste year. Ducatis lower models have showa, but the upper models usually have ohlins. Not that my riding skills could find the limits of either.

The race team isn't HD or Buell.

That is one take, how ever my thoughts are that if HD was willing to loan Mr. Buell 50(i know 47 3 were gotten from dealers or some such number) XR1000 motors without being paid for them prior to delivery, either Buell is the best darn talker out there(he might very well be) or they were willing to take the risk for the reward down the road, that in a nuts shell is why i belive they were joined in one fashion or another from the begining, again i am sure i am wrong but its a thought
I am sure Court or Dave G could expound more than I, and i apologize in advance if my facts or opions are wrong

They didn't "loan" 47 motors without payment. They gave terms on the purchase of the motors, which, BTW, had already been put up for auction to the dealers, who hadn't bought them. Since it was five years after production, in that era to keep the bookeepers happy they were scrapping the "obsolete" inventory, and these motors were next on the list. We got them to hold the motors in their warehouse, then ship them to us as we got paid for them. Not too big of a risk, since our customers were their dealers...and if we didn't take the motors, they would have scrapped them.

My personal opinion of the "major" buy in of Harley was with the intro of the S2. Probably a bad analogy but I see it as like a shot of oxygen in the ambulance before they decide if you walk back to the pits or ride to the hospital, I think they negotiated a split and got a ride back to the pits - avoided the long walk and the hospital.

I don't know the facts, but I do like analogies.
I'll go back to sleep now.

"but I do like analogies"

"Sleep", aka: work. ; )

You must be planning on more snow down there than up here, we're scheduled to get 1"-3", currently up to an inch or so and looks to be melting only slightly slower than it's falling. Will probably dump a foot in Detroit tomorrow while I'm over there, which will be real fun in a rental car....hmmm, maybe upgrade to the Mustang and have a little fun from and back to the airport...hmmmm.

It has snowed all day, more than expected, started about 9 am, i had just enuff time to line(with paint) a soccor field, per request(some people just dont listen)
The problem with snow is not the amount its the time, really dosent matter if its 1/2 inch or 50 inches, if it falls during the school day, it makes it dificult to manage AND keep everyone happy
Not sure what will happen tonight it was suppose to stop at noon, but hasnt, it was suppose to turn to rain and hasnt
goint to be an early night

granspk, BUELL might be a good speaker but like others have pointed out, unfurtunatelly its all about the money.
HD might like BUELL even love him, but i think the fact that the Japps chopper market is growing in America it made the HD people realize that they better play that game too and take some of the japps sportbikes market share as well.
The only difference is that while the jappy cruisers want to look like HD, BUELL is uniques and is not copying the japs.
I think we are just fortunate that BUELL teamed with HD at the right time and they have come up with nice bike for us to enjoy.
