Been having slight trouble with tingly fingers & the odd dead arm when sleeping etc, & put it down to bad circulation, as I have lowish bp & also had a problem with blood supply when my arms were raised above certain limits, apparently something to do with blood vessels being nipped between muscle & collarbone, my doc said all related, live with it. Massage therapy helped & I lived with it.
Until this morning when I woke up with a stabbing pain in the shoulders at the top of my back where it joins the neck, I went to the OTHER local doc as the one I've been using don't work mon mornings, He took one look & said ah yes you've got a problem with a trapped Median nerve, do you get tingly fingers & dead arms too? I said yes, he said no prob, anti-inflammatories for a week & a cervical collar too, then go see osteopath, be fine in a couple of weeks, no heavy work, no biking.
So here I am the sun's out & I can't go anywhere but I'll be all better soon,
Moral of the story, get a second opinion!

I hate docs like that! My doc more or less did the same with me (ooh, you got this or that, it'll go away by itself), until I got so sick I vomitted black stuff (old blood). He then finally sent me to a specialized doc in the hospital.

The same happened when I hurt my back, but I didn't accept his diagnose. This time I told him I did not appreciate his way of dealing with me and went to physiotherapist myself.

Needless to say I got another doc now.

I had the same problem last week grumpy. Took my shoes off after work one day and the entire left side of my left foot felt like it was numb/asleep. Woke up the next morning and it still felt that way. Went into the doctor and he said the lateral dorsal blahblahblah nerve in my foot was inflamed. Gave me some medication to take for the week. Slowly got better. Luckily for me it was at the end of the nervous system. Your's is starting all the way at the top so I'm sure it's an extremely odd feeling to have your body feeling like that.

I threw out my back a couple years ago. A doc comes in, asks a few questions, takes a look, contorts me in a weird position and "SNAP" things were back where they belonged.

I asked "don't I need physical therapy or anything?," the doc says, "you're young, it'll heal up fine."

I hate doctors.
