Outrider/Bill,
Take a visit up to Milwaukee HD/Buell, oh, maybe around February 8th or so, possibly by the 4th, or as late as the 15th depending upon local traffic conditions. You might be surprised at what they unwrap up there in the next week or two.

Thanks Mike. That ought to be about the time I stop drooling over the Triumph Street Tracker that is in the March issue of Cycle World.

It is the one that someone posted from the IMS show on the BWB. As it turns out, it is a concept bike Triumph contracted from Mule Motorcycles, a builder in So Cal that was also posted on the BWB back when we were discussing Mert Lawill's new street tracker.

If Triumph brings something closely resembling it to market, my next bike just may not be another HDI product.

Well, due to a little purchase we did over the weekend my bike replacement plans have been pushed way out beyond the July time frame. But at least I've got something now to haul a bike in if the need arises. ; )

Pick Up or just a trailer? I am still trying to make a decision whether to get a SUV with a trailer or a Pick Up.

Oh well, no big deal. Now that I know you have one, I'll just call you the next time the X1 breaks down or need to make a run to the dump.

FYI, the next time the X1 breaks down will be its first!!!

Of interest, did anyone else notice that nobody said anything about Harley's 883R StreetTracker?

Considering their expertise in the area, I am surprised that they didn't come up with something that at least looked more like one with a 1200 engine. Man, that thing is barely more than a stock entry level Sportster.

I wonder how it is going to sell? If it doesn't, I hope HD doesn't drop the concept. They could have done great things and still maintained commonality of parts, etc.

I am guessing it must sell. They had the same thing with the last model sportster and it was only an 883. To bring it back makes me think people were buying them. I must say though, I don't see many of them on the road.

Side note, Bill, did you have some stuff for sale on Ebay recently? I could have swore I saw your name, but I don't remember what it was for, maybe you were just buying something...

Pickup with shell/cap/canopy/topper/whatevertheycallthemaroundhere.

The new 883 seems to be just cosmetic, and I believe everybody here and elsewhere knows that. But it could be phase one of some future concept, look at the current news stands and see what direction the "customs" have been starting to move towards. Flat trackers and board trackers.

Oh well, back to pedals and keys.

Koz...Have been surfing Ebay but have had no transactions since around August.

Please send me an email if you have seen anything else with my name on it as I am always concerned about Identity Fraud as I am a registered seller with Ebay and my accounts are linked to Paypal.

Mike...Congrat's on the Pick Up. I need to bite the bullet and get something more practical, but I can't bear to part with the Miata. Heck, that's my All Weather Sport Tourer, er...at least my Bagger.

Getting back to the Sportster Street Tracker, I just expected Harley to do something more exciting with it. God knows they have the ability and knowledge. I just liken the current model as a placebo. In fact, something akin to giving sugar to a diabetic.

Now, that is what I call a well timed introduction!!!

I think the part that amazed me most was Cycle World's keeping the Street Rod confidential. That insert had to have been submitted to them 60 to 90 days ago. Now, that is what I call Credibility!

LMFAO...And the "F" stands for Freezing!

Good one Jose. Wonder why the insert wasn't in the other March Mags? You know it wasn't for budgetary reasons. I wonder if perhaps Cycle World's readership is more attuned to this type of bike. Then again, they may have held the presses for the insert or had the latest deadline.

Nice garage poster material, that insert.

Nice garage poster material, that insert.

Jose...Definitely Suitable for Framing!

That pic is really high definition and makes the bike look so much better than anything I have seen on the internet.

I can well understand your infatuation with the Street Rod. Heck, I am even getting excited about it and am yearning for a test ride.

FYI, the new avatar is to remind the folks at Harley that their new Sportster 883R is a little underwhelming especially from a company that has virtually dominated the class since its conception and that they may find some competition from the folks at Triumph. LOL

At least Storz started with this...

And ended up with this with little substitution of parts...

Hope HD can figure out a way to do it with the 1200. Shouldn't be too hard for them if the XR750's are developed anywhere near Milwaukee. LOL

the storz bike looks nice, i have definatly thought about getting a sporty to build a street tracker like that, cuz i think those have to be the best looking street trackers i have seen but thats just my opinion.

And the best part of the basic Storz Bike is it is just a cosmetic change. In essence, tank, tail and pipes if you want to go that far. Sure there is more, but how far do you want to go?

Hopefully, HD will pick up on the concept at least through the parts and accessories department and make it available for the 883 and the 1200's.

Just an opinion. Sure wish I could play product manager for HDI. Hell, I am local, work cheap and love the products!

There's a bit more than just tank/tail/pipes difference in those two pics. Show me one with the 21" front tire and stock forks and just the three main changes. ; )

Well I wouldn't start with a XL1200C
I'd start with a XL1200.
They are less money and already have a 19 inch front wheel and mid-set controls.
Or, start with a 883R,punch it out to a 1200,put Buell heads on it,cam it and then do the street tracker bodywork!
Yep, that's what I would do.

I just might have to get one to make the wifey happy on rides... Cause all i get are complaints when we go on trips w/ my X1, i really don't know why... it is comfy for me...course you wouldn't catch me riding, B1tch on an x-1 seat... heck no.... and the wife likes the v-rod, so this new one should work good.... and hopefully when my x-1 is paid off, Dave will have soooooo many VRSC-R's in stock that he will want to just almost give me one.. lol..... right dave..

By the way thanks for the fast service on the gaskets....

as court said...in a previous post....

Hey...I just copied the pic's off Storz's website and paraphrased their words concerning the street tracker conversion.

I never payed any attention to their selection for a before pic. Have to admit that both of Dave's suggestions are much more practical.

Incidentally, I saw both Storz's street tracker and cafe racer conversions at the Rock Store a few years ago. Wow, they were really sharp and attracted lots of attention. As they parked next to my bike, I was hemmed in by the crowd and ended up listening to the Q/A session for quite a while until I could escape. LMAO

just funnin' with ya some, 'tis all. ; )

I have given some thought to take a rubber mounted 883, shrink it down to 750cc or so, then flat track the format of it. But then I've also been thinking of that new VRSCR. And both have the same financial likelihood of happening in any forseeable future.

Storz does do some interesting stuff though.

Have been following Lawwill's website for quite some time now. The bike is really neat but definitely a whole lot more than merely a cosmetic conversion.

Does anyone have a clue what it sells for and what the lead time is?

I also read somewhere recently where Eddie Mulder was going to start manufacturing a Triumph dirt tracker and possibly a street tracker version. Any info on his progress?

Considering all the little companies making street trackers, one would really think it would be a "no brainer" for HDI to do it right, at least cosmetically.
