I want to have very good crash protection that I can wear most of the year. I was at a local motorcycle shop today and they told me about the Super Ego from Joe Rocket. It is a leather jack that the front and back zip off to expose a mesh inner. Sounds like a good setup. Does anyone have any experience with it? Other jackets I am considering are: Icon TiMax Teknic Spider Joe Rocket Alter Ego others??? I had an Icon Jacket for a while...about 2 days...before I sent it back. With a layer of fleece under the water proof liner it is good to high 30's. I think it is awesome. I ride year round and have not had any complaints. I went down in the jacket at about 40MPH last spring and hopped right up without injury. Without close inspection one would not be able to recognize the damage to the jacket.
