Looks like Dodge is trying to capture the retro muscle car market that the Mustang is in. Big difference though...it's got 4 doors! Personally it doesn't do a lot for me. They stole the headlights from a Hyundai Elantra and stuck on the same rear end as a Dodge Stratus. Supposedly the Hemi will put out 340HP, trumping the 'Stang. The question will be, how will it perform?...

Oh yeah...this ain't no General Lee either!!!

It'll perform like a big sack of flamin' bricks compared to a Mustang...

You own a Miata... You should know that ; ).

How much does it weigh? Width? Balance? Does it have a front suspension that's almost straight stolen from a BMW M series?

I'm not so sure that 340HP trumps the Mustang. Which model Mustang can you buy for the same price?

This POS really hits a nerve with me. It's proof positve that the Germans have now officially killed whatever life there was left at the Chrysler group. It may actually be a good car, but it's as soul-less as it gets. And to hang the Charger monicker on it is blasphemous. After good ol' Lee tacked the name on an "L" body I was hopeing that the name plate would be put on a car worthy of the names' iconic status. It'd be like if Ford hung the Mustang name on a station wagon or GM atarted calling an SUV "Corvette".

The '99 concept had the right stuff and was very well received but no, couldn't work from that design, had to go and copy the latest Elantra. It's just another boring sedan to sell to rental car companies.

Not really competition for that, but I just got an add from Saturn (I bought a 95 SC2 new off the lot and have been abusing the hell out of it daily for 130,000 miles and it has been fantastic).

They are going to be releasing a saturn SKY in 2006, looks very cool, more of a Miata / Honda S2000 class vehicle.

I won't buy one (I will have 4 kids too many for that number of seats) but it could be interesting. I test drove just about every vehicle in the SC2's class. Just about every one was more powerful or had more "features", but none worked as well, handled as well, or were more "fun to drive". Sound familiar?

Anyway, it looks cool, I hope Saturn gets their edge back.

Blah, 4 doors and their going to call it a sports car right? Sorry, a true sports car IMHO is 2 door with an almost non existent back seat, V8 motor and a sleak look.

Also released at the auto show.....

Much more interesting IMHO.

M1, the Hemi will be around $30k loaded...more than a Mustang GT, but about the same as the new convertible. I'd gladly give up 40hp to be able to go topless! I'm sure that when the Cobra comes back it'll push out at least that many ponies. Until then, I think 300hp wouldn't hurt too much!

My parents had a brand new 1968 Charger when I was growing up. I remember we went to see the movie "Bullitt" in it. Our car was visually identical to the one on the movie!

If they call that New Dodge a Sport Car, I would rather have one of these.

The Jeep Gladiator,Removable canvas top and the Back folds down to extend bed to 8 feet. German made diesel. Life is Good.

That Gladiator is such a good idea it makes me wonder why Jeep didn't continue the concept when they first introduced it in the 40's.

That charger reminds me of the new GTO. Not in looks, but in the way that they are killing a name, an Icon!

As has the mustang in the 70's. A lot of cars in the late 70's early 80's were crap. Let's remember why. The problem is today, with all the technology we have, there is no reason Chrysler cannot get away from the body style. It has ONLY worked on the 300, and the Magnum.

Tuscon- The Cobra from the previous generation had 390hp when it went out of production. I think it is a safe bet that the hp numbers on the new Cobra will be even higher which would trump the Charger. Just wish the Charger was a 2 door.

I think the Camaro concept looks quite nice. Far better than the Mustang in my opinion.

And finally this

A little Classic design cues but it still looks modern. That is where the Mustang failed IMO. Looks like a slab sided car from the 60's. This Camaro has some sexy curves.

It is ok I was a die hard Ford guy until I bought my Colorado. I just can't stand the Mustang. I went and looked at/drove one hoping I could get myself to like it but no, the looks are really annoying to me in person. I don't mind a little retro here and there but it should not dominate current styling. That is why I like the Camaro there. Some retro touches but it still has some nice curves. The Ranger is in desperate need of a redesign. The GT is cool but I doubt that I can afford one. I love the F-150 as well as the Super Duty trucks. Too expensive though. Not much else in the line up impresses me anymore.

That is NOT a camaro concept. It is just art modeled and rendered by a completely non-affiliated third party person for nothing more than practice. GM had NOTHING to do with it's creation (although from what I hear they like it too...).

I saw an '05 Mustang yesterday and it definitely turned my head to the stop. I noticed it from about a 1/2 mile too : ). Sitting in a parking lot looking all pretty by it's bad self : ). It really needs about a 1.5-2" drop and a SMALL spoiler with a nice splitter. Wider tires and slightly flared fenders... I'll take mine in Grabber Blue... Maybe even with a Grabber Orange strip down the center.

The Mustang "GT" race cars (~$100K) come in a yellow gold or White w/ the old "Boss" stripes : ). Very nice looking.

I'd like to hear more about that Jeep with the German diesel. Now THAT's a sensible looking vehicle! Make a cool Buell race hauler, too. Is it slated for production and sale in North America?

For more info on the jeep Gladiator. I actually saw a video of it's unveiling at the Detroit auto show along with the Jeep Hurricane. The Hurricane is absolutely sick. With Two Hemi's and front and rear wheel steering it can literally turn on a dime. It's sound like the gladiator will be going in to production maybe next year and the they will be using the same rail diesel that the have in the New liberty's now.(option on liberty's) Standard on Gladiator.

Yeah the Camaro is a rendering but it sure is nice isn't it? I want a Gladiator. That is a nice functional looking truck.

Newsprint is saying the Jeep Gladiator 'could' be a sale item for the '07 model year...depending on consumer demands and reaction. I'm in line. Did anyone read that the diesel would be Turbo'd?

I have the pleasure of 'driving' an '03 325i rather frequently. Chrysler, Ford or Chevy have a ways to go...

Oh yea, I forgot that Jeep is part of Daimler/Chrysler now. In that case I'll guess the diesel's the same 5 cyl turbo Mercedes unit being used in the latest line of Dodge delivery vans. It'll be a strong and efficient powerplant if that's the case.

Why diesels and turbo diesels aren't more popular in North America remains a mystery to me. Perhaps if fuel prices climb high enough?

I was thinking of trading in my Cherokee this year for a truck. I love my Cherokee so this was not something I could do lightly. But if that Gladiator is coming out in '07 then my old girl is going to have to keep running for two more years!!! Where do I send a deposit?
