After looking at the new Charger, it looks like it shares the same platform as the Chrysler 300. Does anybody else see this?

IMHO, the '05 Mustang looks awesome.

The Camaro looks nice, but are they going to build it or is it going to sit with the other GM concept cars at their tech center located in Warren, Michigan?

If they build the Jeep Gladiator, I'm buying one and mount a .50 Ma Duce machine gun ring and have my wife man it and shoot idiots that cut me off in traffic.

Yeeha!

I currently own a Wrangler (2002, same as my M2) and that new Jeep is the first vehicle I would even consider trading in my current Jeep for. As far as the Mustang or the Doge go... who cares. The mustang is cool, but the Dodge is a 4 door. FOUR FREAKIN' DOORS!!! I don't care how big the motor is, it is a four door... therefore it sucks! It's like a 160 inch motor on a trike???

I'll put my 425 HP 1978 Camaro up against either of the new dogde or Ford anyday... Of course I would have to charge the battery, ever since I bought my Buell I haven't taken my car out but once I think....

Not that I am a fan of the Dodge in the first post, but I love big, monster, four door sedans, (wagons). I will never forgive Chevy for killing the Impala. Someone has to create an USA born muscle sedan.

Yeah, but which was cooler, the 64' two door Impala or any 4 door Impala including the SS? Give me the pimp ride 2 door drop top!

The Charger is built on the same platform as the 300 and Magnum.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.. I think it's a shame that two classic nameplates (Charger and GTO) both came back as sedans. Now, here's how I look at it, they are trying to get as much 'bang' for the buck as possible.

Appeal to the sport type driver by offering more power and some performance suspension/steering setups (not sure if these cars have that, but they should). Then, keep it a family sedan by making it four doors so there's room for the kids and shopping etc.

Granted, I'm not going to be buying either vehicle, but if I was in the market, I'd want my new age muscle cars to be two door, rump-a-rump-a adrenaline pumping rude, crude and in your face machines.. Not mellowed out gentlemen that have outgrown the 'hooligan' attitude that birthed them..

Of course, if Buell were to abandon it's current line and re-focus on building a better GoldWing.. I suppose that would signal the end my love affair with Buell as well.

JMHO..

Say what you want gents but I would bet this beauty will outsell the new Mustang 2 to 1. You obviously have never been or seen the back seat of the new Mustang. Why did they bother to put one in if it can't be used. Nice looking car the new Mustang no doubt about that. If I had to buy a new vehicle it sure wouldn't be the Stang unless I was a rich car nut then I may. But I would consider the new Charger. Remember one of these vehicles is a retro car and the other is a high tech masterpiece and it aint the Stang.

The rear seats in Pony cars have always been close to useless. The only thing I ever put in the back seat of my 2nd gen Camaro was groceries (and a flat rear tire once because the trunk was too small to hold it). I always wondered why Porsche put a back seat in the 911. Those really are useless, even for kids.

The only thing retro about the new Mustang is styling cues. The rest of the car is as modern as Fords development budget would allow.

I've always heard rumors that the back seat has something to do with insurance. ie if a car has one its in a different class than those that don't.

Probably a bunch of crap, but you never know

The back seat of my 2nd gen camaro holds my cd case and sometimes my duffle bag. When I put people back there it I get less themp for the subs in the trunk.

Yep, if a car has a back seat (any back seat) it's in a different class.

If no back seat then it's a coupe and insurance goes way up. Other issues too.

My sister was showing me her new Jaguar that is totally cool, and I said "what's the use of that" when looking at the so called back seat, she explained the reasons why, but none of them involved passengers.

If you look at the total design of the Mustang you will notice that the real prize is underneath the skin. The chassis, and suspension has been totally overhauled. It's designed to run, corner(something the original mustang would not do), and look good. Still the best bang for the buck there is. If you're looking for 4 seats, buy a 4 door. ANY car that you have to climb through a folded seat to get to the back isn't meant to be a four seater. You buy what you're looking for. Mustang owners are not trying to bring a family of 4-5 out on a long trip. All the Chrysler/Dodge vehicles are starting to blend into one design. Get some new ideas!!
If you think the new Charger looks better than this, than I feel for ya!! Saleen

Blublak I am confused by your post. The new GTO doesn't have 4 doors, it has two. It does have 400hp and fully independent suspension. I don't think the Mustang can say it has that.

The GTO may indeed have an IRS... but the Mustang has a torque arm, I believe three trailing links and a panhard bar. There are ways of making a stick axle just as good as an IRS (unless you get really creative with the IRS anyway).

That's not an entirely accurate statement.

I have it on good authority that the 300 wagon will be available here in Europe from the autumn.
A turbo-d is also coming, with a 3 litre V6 common-rail Merc engine,(a friend of mine is head salesman at the local Chrysler dealers)
Could be the unit for the Gladiator too.

all I know is i like muscle and power and my mustang and firebolt meets the quote. As far as the dude talking about not having enough space in the back seat, i dont know. I never had a problem with any girl doing the deed in the back seat, sure they complained it was small back there but somehow when they are horny enough space does not matter, lol

The problem with the Camaro concept is just that...it's a CONCEPT! You can buy the new Mustang. By the time GM gets done with that it'd be watered down or too pricey. They did hit the nail on the head though with the new....Saturn. Did I just say Saturn??? Look at this:

170hp, light weight, and starting around $20k. Also an available supercharged 240hp motor in could appear in the near future as an option. Now this could be a fun car!

Pontiac is also coming out with a mechanical twin to it called the Solstice, although it looks a lot different.
