 Mention was made of the above bike potentially making a possible appearance at some point in the near future. The timing seems to be a bit off for new model intro's though, but who knows. If it comes to be, I'm wondering what the price point will be. | ||

I was wondering about the timing, then remembered about the dealer meeting, makes sense now. 22 would be way too high with unsold inventory taking up floor space at some dealerships. Now if they'd just make the seat a little more passenger friendly and add a short "don't fall off" riser in the rear and put the price down around 10 or so ...... | ||

ok if u do all those changes to it then u are just going right back to the origanal v-rod. i like the way the one in that picture looks just the way it is(thogh it could use some mirrors) but other than that its looks awsome its soposed to be a street tracker right? in other words a street version of a dirt tracker right? so since when do u have a 2 up seat on a dirt track bike? | ||

I doubt you will ever again see a product with the H_D logo go for $10k. I would put the price of this bike somewhere around $18k. | ||

Lots of assumptions here, but all are welcomed. I dreamed about the bike all night long and at one point woke up in a cold sweat. That was when I envisioned the bike as a modified Sportster and the engine performance differences between the Sportster 1200 and the XB12's freaked me out. LOL | ||

We saw a street tracker at the bike show. It was a Triumph, looked really cool. I took some pics, meaning to send them to Outrider. I'll have to do that tonight. | ||

Glitch...Send away. I have a relatively large collection of dirt and street trackers stored on my computer. I think of it as my version of "hardcore." LOL Who'd a thunk motorcycles would have replaced women in that collection? | ||

I have seen, in the Phoenix, Glendale area, a Harley with XL750 body work riding around. I was told that somebody makes a conversion kit. It was a very cool looking ride. | ||

screamin eagle used to sell the fender (im not sure if they still do or not) and storz (theres came with a corbin seat)also. My dad used to have the storz fender on his sporster and it looked really neat | ||

Oh No...Mr. Bill....(That would be Willie G. to us) I just had my first daymare (daytime version of a nightmare) and envisioned it as a Blast in Drag! Have to admit, the Blast Enthusiast's have been wanting something along these lines for quite some time now and it would make sense to put new life into an aging product. If true, then I would predict that somewhere down the road a Blast Cafe Racer would be in the mix. Any comments??? | ||

Not to worry, the Tradition mindset always comes to rest where it centers its tradition at. It twill be a twin if it comes to pass. It twould be interesting if it were a twin twingle setup though. | ||

Jest fine. It was worse but a few of them words didn't look like they'd make it past the filter if I'd have tw'd more of them.  (Time for another off-hour run past a few loading docks, but I think the truck already left last weekend or so. Bummer.) If I ever got a V-Rod I'd have to move the footpegs back, increase the ground clearance a bit, and swap out the exhaust and handlebars and bar risers. Hmmm, kind of like the pic above. | ||

Mutt...That really does make sense, doesn't it? Especially, when you consider the Blast is already in some form of dirt track competition. At least I think I read that. I hope both our dreams come true! | ||

as for as the blast street tracker goes it has been talked about before it it really wouldnt cost that much to build if u really want one, they do make flat track frames for the blast motor and all u would have to do is use the stock front end or rig up some head lights and u would have a street tracker. Now think about this: if someone wants a Harley engined bike, but also wants a versatile bike that can readily and happily haul a passenger, what would that person choose, and where would the StreetTracker V-Rod as shown way above fit into this scenario both conceptually and monetarily. If I were to buy a new "Harley" today it would be the XL1200Roadster, and then I'd swap out the gas tank and handlebars on it, for two-up and general riding use. | ||

Firebolt...Nice idea, but I think you are taking it too far with the real flat track frame. The concept of a factory built street tracker is a sporting standard bike that looks like a dirt tracker or perhaps even a street fighter. As Court pointed out a while back a real Harley Dirt Track bike is both financially unobtainable and maintainable by us mere mortals. Whereas, a sporting street bike in drag is. Additionally, if you were to run it on a track, bikes based on the Blast, XB9 and XB12 engines make much more sense than the V-Rod. The V-Rod based Super StreetTracker appeals to me as I would like the stylish retro look in a decent handling package. Additionally, I feel it or something similar would put Harley ahead of the newest Muscle Sport Cruiser market segment that bikes like Yamaha's MT-01 and quite a few others are heading for. In Harley's case, the engine, performance parts and even the Motorclothes are already available in Harley's catalogs and dealers, not to mention there is a decent sized aftermarket for the V-Rod engine. Just my thoughts without getting too carried away with the concept. | ||

So this new bike is 100+ hp at the rear, must have a good size gas tank, more upright seating, good cornering clearance. What are the estimates of all up weight, front end geometry and length ??? I just might have to by another HD. | ||

 I'm on the same path, put on the Vance & Hines pipe so I could mount the footpegs with the Kosman Mid Control Kit. I can ride the bike all day now instead of my back starting to hurt after 15 minutes on the bike and I can move around a lot more. Switched to the HD "Drag" Handlebar kit which moved the grips 1 inch forward and 1 inch down for a more forward lean. Next I'll take the stock seat somewhere to reshape it to raise my butt up and forward towards the airbox cover a couple of inches each. Still figuring out how to increase the ground clearance. I think I would need to notch out the swingarm because it hits the tank when extended too much like when you install longer shocks (I have already played around with this). Then get some custom triple trees made to decrease the rake and bring the front of the bike off the ground a bit. But it looks like HD will beat me to it this weekend at the dealer show. Had I waited six more months I might be buying the new bike but I like the one I have for now. (Message edited by josé_quiñones on January 18, 2005) | ||

Ahhh...Cycle World's Super StreetFighter concept. I like it as well, but being an old guy, I prefer the retro look of the Super StreetTracker. Plus, Harley already has a couple of jackets that would really look sharp on it. LOL | ||

Glitch...Thanks! That is an immaculate specimen. I think the thing I get the biggest kick out of is the safety barrier around the bike. Did they use a lot of those at the Atlanta Show or was this a one off deal? | ||

The same setup was used at the Washington DC show for this bike and the new Speed Triple, which I really wanted to sit on but could not. |
