In the little town of Petoskey(15,500), in Northern Michigan, there are three Buells! Two of us are year round residents that anticipate the spring thaw! The three of us still haven't found the time to hit the twistys on M-119 in Harbor Springs. But there's always this Summer!

Other than the ones I know, I have had several occurrences of buellers in the wild.

I rode past an S3 near the house but I was on my Honda and it was before I bought the M2.

I have seen two buellers riding with hogs. One was a woman on a Blast and it was deck with fairing and bags. The other was a hog wannabe on a black M2. The skull cap gave him away. On both these incidents I was in a car/truck so again the others did not know I own a Buell

The last occurrence was at a dealership. He was riding a yellow M2. We did talk for 1/2 hour.

Jim, there are other Buellers in NC. We in east just rode today. Four buellers riding together in Eastern North Carolina. It has to be a first. It was so special we got a police escort by a pair of Troopers.

Sweet. Seem to be selling like hotcakes in Phoenix! I know my dealers entire inventory went to Phoenix when they closed their Buell doors...

Greg - Is one of your bikes an M2? I'd like to see one if you get a chance to ride it over. Not bad riding weather for Jan huh?

Carlos - Was it a friendly escort?

Jlnance,

When I first looked in my mirrors and noticed the unmarked car rapidly approaching I thought he was coming in for the kill. Since I had a more sane (i.e. responsible) rider in front of me we were not exceeding the speed limit. Johnny Law was pretty tight behind me as we got to the next stop sign. As the 2 Buells in front of his car calmly took off the officer waved at the guys on the 2 Buells behind his car and turned left. So I guess you could say it was a friendly escort.

The puzzling thing for me was that it was not a state highway we were on. Back where I come from the state boys only have jurisdiction on and patrol state highways. Kinda makes me rethink some of my riding habits on the backroads down here. Or perhaps that's the difference between State Patrol (Wisconsin) and State Trooper (NC).

Since when have I become sane or responsible? I almost resent those remarks. I just didn't want to get another ticket considering I'm already fighting one now. Man, just play it cool once and your called responsible. Some friend. Thanks, thanks a lot. Next, you'll accuse me of being mature. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!!! What are we talking about now?

Actually the state troopers here do have jurisdiction on any public road from what I understand. And they will let you know that it is THEIR road that you're abusing.

That's why we had "model citizen practice" heading back up Old Maple Hill Rd.

Jim,

I guess you would say it was something out of Top Gun. The troopers were paired up and had radios, but the four Buellers saw them first. Since we had the drop on them the game turned out in our favor.

We first spotted them at the fish camp. We were coming in after some Buelling fun on the road, and they were coming out from lunch. Good timing on our part. It was comical because we were pretending to be law abiding citizens and try were pretending not to be memorizing our plate numbers.

After lunch we returned to Old Maple Hill Rd to find our two friends pulling out. They waited to turn around to see if they could give us enough rope, but Dave (Aydenxb9)and I knew they were coming. The unmarked u-turned somewhere behind us, and the mark went around to head us off at the pass if we ran. Robert (Southern Marine) fell back first, tying the unmarked up. When he passed Robert, I fell back and did my best to hold him up legally while flashing to the others ahead. After he flew by me on a long straightway, I waited then chased them down in the turns. It's hard trying not to look conspicuous while taking 25 mph turns at 60 mph.

The only thing that got me mad was that I could not manage to run down the trooper thru the curves one handed as I tried to extract my camera phone to take a picture of Dave & Branken with their new friend.

Jim, Chick acquisiton congratulations -- make sure she's not a lawyer (don't ask.)

My fellow NC'ers need to come on out to the western side of the state to 'play.' Once you get west of I-77 there's nothing but twisties; if you stay off of I-40 and I-85. Low density LE area too. We can do this just give me some dates and I'll work it out. We can start out from my house and from there. Advise.

LOL - Well Greg, she does work in a law office, but she isn't a lawyer. Sort of a lobbiest. She is taking me to the govenors inagural ball this weekend. That will be a new one for me.

I would like to come over there some time. I'll take a look at the calender. Someone in the storm fronts section was asking about western NC. You might want to post over there as well.

Send 'em all to the western part of the state -- God's Country.

I'll be working in the RTP for the next few weeks so maybe we can work something out. Currently getting up to speed in Lucent Brickology and it's kind of consuming my freedom.

Greg, I'm planning several trips that way this year. I was in Cherokee two years ago and loved it. I also have family not too far away so when I make formal plans, I'll let you know. I will have to navigate south a bit but I think it will be worth while.

i've met four other buell owners in this area (southeastern mass.) the first one i met was a buell freak, what a cool experience that was, he had a totally customed out x1 and i mean customed out, only the frame and lower engine was stock, i was siked to see such enthusiasm for a bike, cool guy too , he gave me a chrome cover for my back sprocket that day, on the other hand the next buell rider i met a few months later was totally apathetic seemed to really not care about his bike and acted like it was adequate for the time being, really weird it was a brand new (at the time) 2001 or 2002 (?) m2 with the orange frame and grey body work, i was talking up a storm and skillet was uninterested, i was down right shocked, the only other peeps i met was a cool buell enthusiastic cyclone rider with a black 2000 m2 i still see on occasion and another with a purple 98 m2 who turned me on to ATC i met at a MDA run, and an x1 rider i met at vanson leathers annual bike show who rode all the way from maine or something liked his bike and i don't blame him it was one of them thar millenium jobbies, real nice. so, in my experience 3 outta 4 buellers are enthusiasts. oh yeah i almost forgot i saw another buell this summer, did'nt get to meet the rider but i saw a custom cruiser/blast, kinda weird to me, to each his own though, it was a girls bike it seemed (flower paint job) leather saddle bags and other cruiser fair, the rider was motorcycle enthusiastic if not buell enthusiastic any way. i also saw 1 xb lightning black, parked at a bar the next town over it was cool looking and it was the only bike there parked kinda at an angle so it looked like it owned the street, didn't meet the owner i was just driving by. i saw a firebolt in my car as well, and that's my tally of local buells.

Hey Tripp.. What was a Firebolt doing in your car?

Sorry, couldn't resist the straight line..

Last Buell rider I saw on the road was a girl on an XB9S. I waved and slowed she buzzed by on a mission and didn't even look my way. Maybe it was my breath? Before that, I'd only seen one other, on Rt. 211 W. It was a silver S3T (I think) and they were riding with someone on a Beemer(maybe?)heading over the mountain. (this is before the local 'Stuntaz' made that road a mecca for LE's as well) and on the two lane section I rolled past both of them. Not that I was going that all fired fast, but I was faster then the BMW was going and the Buell was following .. Maybe if it was leading it would have left the other rider behind? Anyway, when I got to the other side of the mountain I pulled over and waited. They must have gone Blue Ridge Prkwy. Oh well..

All others I've met have been arranged in one way or the other.

Later,

then I looked down. I was sitting on my bike.

seen that guy across traffic around town 2 other times since then.
