I was sitting at the bar having a cold frosty talking to Bartimus when I realized what my Buell has done to my driving habits and other hobbies. So I came up with a top 10 list of things I do different because of my bike. 10. Give up golf. I was actually getting good, about a 12 handicap, but my weekends are saved for my family or riding. 9. Watch the weather channel. (70% chance of rain...heck I'll beat out the storm!) 8. Walk out to my car trying to figure out if there is anyway I could take the bike instead. 7. Change my library reading materials. Motorcyclist, Cycleworld, Sport Rider...I don't really care. As long as there are purty pics of 2 wheeled machines! 6. Watch ebay auctions..a lot! Just scored on set of Cortech leathers, brand new, my size, for only $129! Sweet! 5. Stay up late on the badweb. Someone may just come up with a $25 do-hickey that adds 2-3 hp for my XB. Can't miss out on those posts! 4. Find an excuse to run to the store. I'll get it if I can strap it on the bike somehow! Hey, want me to got get a movie? I'll be right back! 3. Look at holes and openings in traffic differently. I'll get on an onramp and wish I had been on the Buell. Dang, I could've made it passed that Caddy with the out of state plates! 2. Drive on roads that I've driven on hundreds of times before and then think...hmmmmmm, this would be WAY more fun on the Buell! Find me a curvy road please! and #1... Actually get excited about planning to travel over 1000 miles in a weekend with a bunch of strangers I've only met on the internet!! Thanks to the badweb I've already done it once and will be doing it again in the spring. Thanks Erik, you've taught this old dog some new tricks! |

Not just that, but while driving my car, I also: 1) Squeeze my knees to grip the (nonexistent) tank when I make a panic stop. 2) Lean into turns before making them. |

I sold my 99 GT Mustang and bought a truck -- good for track days, the stang was a pig in the snow (all you "snow? what's snow?" folks pipe down now, hear?),, and the gardener in the family loves the amount fo dirt the truck will hold (and I thought we were getting drity along with the house we bought -- seems that there is dirt and good dirt, and we didn't get enough of the good kind! actually, riding will improve your driving, if ya pay attention -- |

I did a tune up on my car in March. As of Jan. 1st the total number of miles I put on my car since the tune up was under 125. My bikes have accumulated multiple thousands of miles during the same timeframe. Cars SUCK! 1313 |

Hmmmm... I also learned that I have more money in my bank account because refueling the Buell costs way less. |

LOL! My truck battery went dead as well! Bought things I never thought I'd own. Tire changer Tire balancer Special tools/sockets A trailer Multiple bags so I can pack things on my bike that I should have taken the car for, but didn't want to. Good one Brian! I was taking my rifle to the shop and didn't want to take the car. SO, here I am going down the road with my rifle slung across my back. This during the sniper scare back east. Should have seen the looks I got going down the road in black with my rifle. PRICELESS! |

I've not changed at all, in fact it worked the other way, I bought the Buell to go with my Hooligan Truck Driving style. ps. If you don't believe me ask Newfie about his car, hehehe. |

I also have a dead car battery. I have a car mode and a buell/bike mode, I still find myself leaning into turns in the car though. What happened to that "you know you ride a Buell when..." thread? There was some funny stuff there. Dasbuell, thanks, I needed a good laugh. -Mike |

I must say that since I starting riding street bikes my driving in a cage has actually gotten better...more attentive I guess is the best way to describe it. |

Tuscon....So true. I find myself taking corners a little faster than before in the 4 Runner but for some reason it just doesn't handle as well. Nice 9 by the way (Message edited by black_sunshine on January 06, 2005) |

The past 2 summers I have gone NINETY DAYS between fuel fillups on my truck. Fall and spring about once every 30 days, full on winter, well...once every 2 weeks. |

I am a way better driver now that I've been riding for a little while. I watch traffic better and drive the speed limit because I want to save my license so I can keep riding. The down side is that I used to always wear a seat belt no matter what, and now I dont. Stupid I know but thats how it is. |

I bought an old beater of a jeep in 2000 and put 65,000 miles on it in three years. I bought the XB12R and put less than 300 miles on the jeep in the last year. I start the jeep up every two weeks to go to the grocery store or when one of the neighbor's reports me to the city's environmental enforcement unit for having a dead car in my driveway. |

I look through curves and corners better in the car, and follow a better line. I wave at bikers when I'm in the car. I get overly irritated in the car because it takes a few minutes to hit a 100 mph, IF it gets there at all. |

I have to agree with Reep... I catch myself shifting in the seat when I hit a good fast corner. I just wonder how it looks to those following behind me as I lean and do that look through the turn stare that we all do. |

Hey Greg, looks like my Buell has affected my spelling. Must be the Buell effect! Will, nice 9 too. Everyone knows the black ones are meaner and faster. Thanks for your responses. I do just about everything you guys posted too. Just didn't realize I was doing it. I also find myself "cruising" at 100 in my car on the freeway a LOT. I have to travel back and forth to Phoenix on a long straight section of I-10 and I find myself getting into triple digits without thinking about it. Ooooops! |

I got a notice from Ford letting me know that the pick up was due for the 81000 mi check up. HA HA HA I fooled them I'm no where near that and may not be until spring when I go back into the holding pattern. Now we got that damn white crap on the roads and sand piles when thats melted so the milage on the truck gets racked up. ( I did take the bike out on New Years day though) SAndy |

DasBuell by the definitions you give it still seems to me that affect is better but it doesn't really matter. |
