You are the man in charge.

Funny how when it comes down to actually producing something the details become a bit more involved than most initially imagined. You nailed a bunch of them right off the start. You are obviously the best man for the overlord job. : )

My first question to you all. How much are you willing to spend for nice calendar? 1 Buell per months, many shots of old RR and RS bikes? All very nice phots reproduced well?

Tell what you would spend and how many you would want.

THIS IS NOT AN ORDER JUST A QUICK SURVEY.

Rather have action shots of the bikes on the track, static shots of old bikes just sitting around dont do much for me. Just my opinion though.

I would think that $15 (or do the $12 plus S&H bring it to $15) per is a fair price and I would do 2. I would also let our membership be aware of it when it does happen.

P.S. - I like both the photo ideas - with models or without, whatever is decided works for me.

I want at least three calenders. In the past i've spent any where from 6.00 to 25.00 for calenders depending on how cool the pic's are. I'd go probably 20.00 each If I got a preview first. I would like to see action with a brief description of the bike and where the pic was shot and who owns the bike. Cool bonneville, drag, and track pic's, maybe a wheelie or two. But PLEASE no chopper Buells. I would also like old and new models if possible.

I'd go $10-15. That's fair. My preference would be action shots...

I would like to mention that some of us, while perhaps enjoying a fine-looking race machine, have little to do with the whole racing scene and might like to have a few non-racing bikes featured. I personally am in for at least one calendar, however I also realize that in the grand scheme of things my single calendar is hardly a quorum.

Excellent idea.
I would give $20.00 for a calender with number blocks large enough to write in.
I prefer track shots over stills but it really doesn't matter.
I also need to be able to hang it in the shop where it will be seen by all,
so I guess hold the t&a. ( hold the t&a but wash your hands cause it's flu season)
And I'll buy at least 2.

Thanks in advance to everyone that gives their time to make it happen.

I would pay the $15 also...

Court(or anyone smarter than me)... is there or could there be any problems using the "BUELL" name? I know that it is non-profit and any additional proceeds go to supporting Buell Events. Honestly I don't think Erik would have a problem as long as he gets a "FREE" calander. but I was just curious on the legal aspect of it.

Action shots! i didn't mean only racing, just suggestions. Some regular guy riding a wheelie would be cool! But i'm up for any all buell calender.

$20 sounds fine- and I'd like to see a mix of racing, action, and still shots. And dont get too nostalgic and put 11 months of RS and RR bikes- maybe go in chronological order following the evolution of Buell- start with the RR and end up at Dyna's Revo powered XBST. Dont forget a blue M2!

I'm in for one, whatever Dave decides. A mix of various shots, bikes, venues sounds great. If I were Dave I'd take absolutely no heed from any naysayers not riding Buells.

20 bucks. give or take 10 bucks depending on the size and quality of the prints.

I'd vote for a mix of shots, and personally I would like to see a small print of bike year and model and in case of an action shot the rider name in the left or right bottom corner. One picture per month.

Sounds like $15 is the price point.

To make this work we need to order 500.

To make that work, we'd need 250 orders in hand.

The $100 donations on the FX thread could get 6 calendars each. In a "perfect pyramid" world those folks could sell a couple of the calendars and make further donations to the FX racing intiative.

The funds would go to the Badweb FX Contingency Fund.

Dave G will make all decisions with regard to calendar content this year. He'll listen to all suggestions until 01.15.05.

Dana will administer donations and distribute calendars.

The above is not final. I am an observer in this project. Just an attempt to start to gel some of the thinking.

Given that it's a calendar, I'd say time, quite literally, is of the essence. Someone will need to make the decision that HOW we are doing this avoids any potential COI and sits with existing sponsors. That metric being met, then move quickly.

I'd like my calendar by the 2nd week of February.

Court

P.S. - Someone asked about use of the name BUELL (and then misspelled Erik's name : ) ) I would suggest we avoid the use of the name BUELL. I'd suggest that a learned observer might pick up on the Buell nature by looking at the content. It's perfectly legal to make a calendar with pictures of motorcycles. If Buell is not pursuing the folks who sell all the knock-off Buell branded stuff on e-Bay (I *DO* pursue them) I doubt they'd go after 12 pictures of Buells.

Can't we get Buell to grand us the right to use the name Buell and asociated logo for our calender project? If it costs money, could it be worth it to buy the right? (really don't know, I'm just thinking out loud).

Another question: what do you do with 6 calenders? 2 would be fine for me, and leaves more money to be donated to its intended purpose.

Personally, I was willing to donate 100 bucks for the race sponsoring, and spend another 20 bucks-or-so for the calendar.

Court please don't try to delagate.Blake asked or voted for that matter if I'd be in charge and I quote be in charge of potential contributors and the total amount. The calender is all yours not mine.So if you want my help ask don't delagate its wrong of you especially when its a volenteer effort. If it can't be fun then don't do it.Something you learn at P.O.T. training.

I'm good for at least two .. maybe three. $15 is good for me ($20 if need be).

I'd prefer to see a mix. Bikes on the street, track, with models.. Older, newer.. I think the idea of some info on bike and rider would be cool, Perhaps more than one image on each page? Like, a RaceXB and a a street version, each doing it's thing?

As far as getting the rights to 'Buell' and the logo.. The mothership may get involved and it could cost thousands if we go through channels. On the other hand, we could name it after the site (BadWeb 2005)? and use those logos.. just a thought or three..

Later,

OK, first thing I need it pictures. (At this point I AM NOT PROMISING THAT WE WILL HAVE A CALENDAR. IT DEPENDS ON MANY FACTORS INCLUDING BEING ABLE TO GET THE RIGTH PICTURES) Send them to me in as SMALL a file as you can to calendar@davegess.com

Here is what I need; minimum of 300 PPI resolution with a physical size of about 8" high by 11" wide. More is better.

The sample you send can be a jpeg but unless you can provide me with a image set up with CMYK, color corrected and the correct size and resolution I will need a RAW, TIFF, BMP, EPS or some other non lossey format.

Any good digital will provide this level. Any 35 mm slide or negative will also.

I will also need to know that you own the rights to the photo, Where and when you took it, bike model, if in action who the rider is and any other relavant details.

Remember, keep the files you send me SMALL. After the first pass I will need to see your high quality image.

I can scan 35 mm film or slides, if you have another format you will have to scan it yourself.

Bud, I think we will need to make it a Badweb calendar. Best to avoid any attempt to use the Buell name or logo. The Buell name will howver be all over th ebikes in the pictures.

Just an FYI... I've seen 2.1MP photos printed at 8"x10" with good results. It depends upon the subject of the photo. For instance, a sunset photo requires far less detail/quality that a close-up of someone's face. I'd say that a moto pic generally falls somewhere in between those two extremes.

I'd like to see at least one pic that includes Erik. : )

Dave is running the show though. I'm just in the gallery with the rest of y'all. : )
