they're not just customers. They're also our friends.
Amen brother.

How many GM's out there:
call customers after they have been injured in a crash?

provide a bike to ride at a club event when you are waiting on an insurance settlement?

personally vouch for you with Harley financing?

pass out cell numbers to customers and tell them that if they ever have problems that leave them stranded to give them a call and offer a place to crash?

pull parts of floor models if they don't have them in stock?

Stone Mountain 4 Life!!!

Hi,Along4theride....
Getting back to your original post about your hard pulling clutch.I purchased one of those "Easy Pull" clutch devices for my X1 with a Heavy Duty Clutch Spring installed.Bought it off e-bay.Had a small issue when installing(had to grind a very small amount off of the lower most part where it touched the inside of thr clutch cover.)This device probably lessened the pull pressure by about a third!I was told recently by somebody in the know that the reason they hadn't incorporated this in the design was that it could cause an "Over the center" issue.I would think that since this is one of the VERY FEW issue most magazines have reported that the Factory could redesign the cover with a larger clearance and maybe the Ramp and lever altered to make this better.A slightly longer pull wouldn't hurt if it would resolve this issue.Oh well...more than likely they have been working on this knowing how good their CS group is!

We have the EZ pull clutch issue resolved. We took a kit made for a sportster and made some slight modifications. The bike is ready for road testing. I will ride the bike for a week or so to see how well it holds up before we make any more. Just like Ebear said, there were clearance problems. All you need is a little time and good welder and you can make anything.

Last year I broke my shifter going up Five Forks Trickum and I called the SMHD to see if they had one in stock. Cameron picked up the line. We had only spoke a few times. They were slammed with customers and having a party with band and all the great things they have at the dealership. Dyno-Drags!! Anyway Cameron put me on hold and then gave me the bad news. Not in stock! I think he heard cars in the background and asked me where I was. I said 'on the side of the road' My trucks in the shop. He said 'hang on one second' came back and said I have one here but don't ask how I got it! Do you need a ride or tow-truck. I said 'I'm on my way in second gear' Told me the rear entrance is blocked off, but to tell the guys that 'Cameron said it was o.k' I pulled up a few minutes later he came to the back. said give us a minute I'll have a guy back here for you to change this out. I'm a freak so I had the tools and put it on while he gasped for a smoke and a break. That was very cool!! Thanks again 'CLOWN'

I wonder if Small's is staying in? They were always a Buell supporter with lots of inventory, but if Buell is reducing to only one dealer in sportbike markets, who stays? They currently have 3 area outlets.

Actually.....Earl Small's played a role in Buell history via Alison who started, with hub David, what could arguable be dubbed the first Buell owners chapter after Buell and HD teamed up.

I've been there several times to visit with Buell owners and, at least to me, a Buell is made for the area. Killer roads and fun people!

This Stone Mountain news has made my week. I may have to go take a look sometime.

I might have to add American HD to the list of good dealers, Mainly because of Spidy, but If spidy were ever to leave his garage is the place to get fixed (that is where my bike is right now, as a matter of fact). I am planning on takeing a trip to Cummins HD/B in flint, Mi (about 10 miles away) and preforming that test for them to pass or fail, hopefully pass, but we shall see. I will keep everyone informed, if they live in the general Flint Mi area....

Not to be confused with American HD/American Thunder Buell in Tonawanda, NY (Buffalo area). NOT a good place to go... This has been discussed previously on this board.

Court,
I'll chime in with props for my dealer River Falls HD/B in River Falls, WI. They are always quick to answer any questions I have. The manager and a couple other people there ride Buells and seem enthusiastic about them. The Buells are right up front and there are several on the floor. They don't have much in stock parts wise but it's a petty small dealership. All I've had them do service wise so far is a TPS reset on my X1 but they did it quickly and shuffled things around so I could wait for it. (I don't yet have a scanalyzer for my bike, it's on the list since it is also the OEM scan tool for Subaru and I can justify the purchase that way being an import mechanic and all.) Good friendly people. The same people also own St. Croix HD in New Richmond, WI and the attitude there was also positive.
