A local bike shop has a 98 S1 that they have taken the Engine, Wheels, Forks and triple trees from to make a chopper. The bodywork and wiring is intact including a Penske shock, what do you guys think its worth? | ||

Penske worth about $450-500. Rest of bike maybe another $500 if bodywork is perfect. | ||

Phoneman, if you can pick it up for no more than a thousand, it will cost you about 5,000 to 6,500 to restore depending on the type of parts you are using, and whether or not you go new or used. Still a pretty good deal for basically a new bike. | ||

Restore? Its a frame & bodywork. You can pick up real nice running S1's for under $4000, sometimes even less than $3000. | ||

It would make a good project bike if you could get it cheap. It always seems easier to spend a little at a time than a lot all at once. a good sportster engine a couple of grand, wheels and tires can be had for less than seven hundred, forks and triple trees for less than a five hundred. If you shopped around you could have a decent bike for about less than 4 grand and some work. A lot of this stuff pops on e-bay for sale | ||

I'd guess that there are enough parts in BWB garages to put that S1 back together. Good opportunity to put some decent forks up front and some light weight Marchesini wheels. A Brembo caliper grabbin' a BrakeTech cast iron rotor. Excellent opportunity to put a chain drive in place. I'd bet Mr. Wilson and crew have an engine for sale that would be worthy of an S1. | ||

Ive got a set of PM's and was thinking of making a drag bike. If I dont pick it up I will post the shops number if someone else wants to start the "Save a Buell Foundation" |
