Josh said he didn't understand how Yamaha could be making money on the FJR1300. I've wondered about that myself. The S-T market is very small, and the FJR is one complex, thoroughly-engineered bike. It must've soaked up millions in development costs. (Its also a very good bike; best in class?). How do the Japanese do it? I get all squinty-eyed and suspicious about this; they must be losing money on the FJR and making it up somewhere else...
Anyway, lacking a purpose-built Buell S-T bike, I believe I'll build my own. Starting with an XB9/12R, add: Heli-bars, the lower footpegs from the S-bike, an extended-height windshield, a custom saddle, a throttle control, some saddlebags, a tank bag and an Aerostich full-suit. And also the springs/shock from an XB low, 'cause of my short legs. I think this would make a dandy S-T setup, but probably only solo. But I'd like to build one anyway...
The only minus I can think of is the relatively small tank size. |

If it were not for my best friend's S3T, I would never have looked at Buell twice. I now own an S2 that I want to convert to a "T". Buell may loss me for my next bike purchase. (Unless I find a wonderful and cheap S2T or 2002 S3T.) |

Prob. is I have a work issue, and Dull has a bike issue. I am saving vac. time for to trips. One with my (much) better half, and one on the bike. Just bug the hell out of us until we say yes. (When you said "ride", you meant on the bikes, right? ) |

Back on topic, my next bike will NOT be a pure sport bike; that is what I see the xb to be. It will be a sport-tour, large cruiser, or tour. Only the tubers will be looked at from Buell. I fear that Buell is going too far sport for me. |

Dough, on that issue, I agree. The XB's are great bikes. But for an everyday bike, or a bike to put 500 mile days on, the XB wouldn't cut it for me. Hence the S3T |

My next bike will be an XB12R, the bike after that will, hopefully, be a Buell touring bike.

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. That's almost exactly what I've done to my scoot, though I've added the Ventura bags, used Sato adjustable rearsets and added some additional S/T kit for electronics, lighting, etc...
It's not Yamaha, but then again, if I'd wanted one I would have bought one! 
My XB is currently good for 500 mile stretches without discomfort.
Works for me.
