For those still interested, got some information from Fontana Village today.I wasn't aware that they had several Buell events over the past few years there, including a National Event and a Commercial shot there. Did any of you attend any of those events, and if you did, how was your experience at Fontana. They are ready to start Blocking Out room when we're ready. I checked, and they have halls that can be rented and have catered for about $12-$15 per person, buffet style. Thought I'd put this information out there for any of you that are still interested in an event not tied to BRAG, but rather an event for people that just want to ride. I'll post as I get more information. So far, there's one coming over from Europe. About 7 from Wisconsin, and I've gotten about 15 to 20 responses from the Badweb. Even got an email from a guy that heard about from it his son that is on the Badweb. Hope some of you can make it !! Later...........Rocco |

Rocco.............you go freakin deaf? Or maybe I forgot to tell you? Buell/Brag has held several events there over the years, I know a number of us attended the one in sept 2002, the wife & I, Darthane, Shazam, Racerboy, Jose..hell too many to recall right now. Fontana is nice but its huge & way spread out. We rented one of their "cabins" its actually a 1 bedromm fully furnished mobile home with siding on it to look like a log cabin. That place had a porch with a ceiling fan, fridge, stove, all cooking utensils, etc etc. If you wanted to 5-6 people could easily sleep on the living room floor. I think the rate I was quoted was something like $85-90 a night yet when I paid the bill they only charged me $70 a night well worth it ot me because I hate camping in a tent. The hall deal for the buffet...well that gets kinda sticky. Bob from KC was dealing with them & Jose was helping but for some reason they were trying to get more money out of us....as we were already seated & ready to eat, something about minimum amount of people or some silly crap. Anyways in my own opinion the buffet..which was priced at $20 a head was simply not worth it, the wife & I decided to take a pass on it & we ordered off the menu at the bar, we had better food & it was much cheaper than the buffet. If you like to snack at night, you had better pick up some stuff while you are in town..which is a long way off. The stores & shops at Fontana close up pretty early. We shopped at Food Lion near Gatlinburg & picked up a bunch of soda, chips, etc etc & kept it in the cabin. Overall Fontana was very nice & I would go back in a heartbeat. Some folks dont like the fact that its about 7 miles from the beginning of the actual "dragon", but the road going there is just as nice & twisty. |
