Woke up to this this morning. Brand new Kenwood, at least they did not go into the garage. I live in a decent place too, total suburbia. See how they tried to rip out the CB? It just had a twist on screw holding it on, guess I got lucky there. Lock your cars and bikes, no matter where you live.

Suburban kids without a positive outlet for teenage angst unfortunately = property damage and theft more often then many would like to admit.

My condolences for your loss.

Your probably right about the teens. No biggie, just a radio. I have a Best Buy card! Not sure I even want to replace it though, in case it happens again. I just kinda wanted to remind everyone to lock their cars. My wifes new (locked) Mitsubishi was not touched, and my Jeep is hardly where I would go looking for nice stuff! I just happen to like a good sounding audio system, and was being retarded last night and did not lock the door....

That totally sucks!!!

I have the same Jeep!!

It was parked in Home Depot parking lot, in the middle of the afternoon, and they broke the pass. side triangle to open the door, and "wrastled" my speaker box from the back of the truck out of the pass. door!!!!!(box was a hand built monster @150lbs.)

They never touched the kenwood, though!

sorry to hear about your Jeep.

p.s. is that an aftermarket wood overlay???

When I ordered my Jeep in 2002 (Wrangler soft top with half doors) I bought the best stereo the dealership offered. There is no way to lock up my Jeep, and like the man says, nobody steals a stock radio!

Tank Bueller- I dont think the wood is aftermarket, but I'm the second owner so I cant be positive. I'll be needing a new piece as you can see. Well, maybe not, it all goes back together pretty well, I might just super glue it for now.

Upon closer inspection!!!!

You have a higher model than my "Sport" package, and I believe the trim is OEM. Mine is black, but is the exact same piece. Not hard to R&R but not sure of the price.

I would bypass the super-glue, in favor of some Devcon 5-min epoxy(found at home depot). Mix more than enough, apply small amount to broken surface, smush together, and while holding parts together, wipe excess WET glue with mineral spirits. Mineral spirits will not damage the "wood" grain finish, but, also won't remove the glue once it begins to cure.

O.K....this is starting to sound like an episode of DIY Automotive repair!!!!!

Sorry, again, for the loss and damage!!!

Good luck!

Locking your vehicle around this cesspool of humanity will only get you a broken window AND your stuff taken. You can't get the cops to drive down my street unless they're called for an emergency.
Sometimes I wish there was a way to wire a great big capacitor to my van so that who ever touched it would drop dead right then and there.
Thieves need killin'. Plain and simple.

I agree. A bit of fishing line with a few hooks is a good deterrent..........

Ned, use a smaller capacitor...just enough to knock them on their knees...less liability that way.

Sorry for your loss, at least they didnt steal your whole car ! Some POS punk kids tried to steal my old truck back in July, the smashed out my drivers side window, and were proceding to jam a screw driver into my ignition when something spooked them. While they were waiting for waht ever spooked them to pass, they went and broke into someones home, the neighbors saw them coming out so they called the cops. After the stole some stuff from the house, they went back to my truck, keying the left side, then tring to figure out how to start it ( thankfully they didnt know how to drive a 5 speed , stupid punks )and thats when the cops showd up and took them to jail. These kids were between 14 and 16 so I dont know who they are, only thing is I will get a call when they go to court. my big question is, why in the blue hell were these kids out @ 2:30 in the morning , on a school night ? And more inportantly, where are thier parents ?

That wood grain is the stock interior in the country edition. My wifes old jeep cherokee had the same thing.

Tramp that would be great, but I live in California, and I would probably go to jail and have to buy the punks parents a new house that they could sit around and get high in while the "kids" are out roaming the streets. I dont want a gun or anything to deal with these people, I want a spray that will render them infertile

PS, yep, Country edition. I love it. I might have to trade it in for a new little truck soon because my commute is about to go from about 4 minutes to about 1 1/2 hours, but I dont want to.

Nothing I hate more then thieves. I have had three stereo's stolen from me. Twice from my BroncoII and once from my Dads truck. They even steal junk...The last stereo that was stolen out of my BroncoII was this worthless piece of crap cd player my buddy gave me. I think it was one of the very first ones ever made. It was one of the pull out ones that you actually pull out the whole deck..Hell it was so old it only had two channels and didn't even have a dimmer or rca jacks on it.

If it makes you feel any better my neighbors caught two kids trying to break into my Moms car. I was upstairs "working" on the computer when I heard the screams of two young kids. I grabbed my bat and ran out side to find some 50 year old guy laying on top of a kid in my front yard. I had no clue what was going on till he told me to help his son catch the other kid who ran away. I ran up the street and saw his son running after this kid who tried to run into a gas station that just closed. The kid was banging on the door crying trying to get in just as he turned around the guys son punched him and pulled him back down the street.

I ran back into my house and called the cops and woke up my Dad. So my Dad who's 55 ran out side in his Whitey Tighty's with pot belly in tow. He then grabbed the kid who was being pulled down the street picked him up shook him around threw him and the ground and started to litterily kick his . I run over and pull my Dad off the kid before my Dad gets arrested. So as we are waiting for the cops to show up. The old guy still laying on top of the other kid see's the kid go into his pocket for a screw driver. The old guy grabs the kids head and smashes it into the ground a few times till the kid starts crying and throws away his screw driver.

Finally the cops show up and to my surprise it was one of my buddys brother who was the cop. I had gone fishing with him and my buddy numerous times. The cop tries to get the one kid off the ground but he wont get up. So the cop drops his knee in the kids back cuffs him and then carries him into the cruiser. The other kid starts crying like a lil girl saying how sorry he was and started screaming histericly when the cop puts the cuffs on him. I have to admit that was one of the funniest things I have ever been a witness to. It's nice to know that sometimes these chickenshits get whats coming.

My moms house was broken into in September. All that was taken was the beer and a Dewalt drill/driver kept by the exit door on a charger.
Total Cost:
Beer=$?
Dewalt=$100
Window=$27

Mom now just leaves the beer on the front porch.
