Is it worth the time to use an oil pressure and oil temp gauge?
Does anyone have any pics of them mounted on a tuber?

the more gages the merrier I always say... I'm quite sure the idiot light and the ECM are capable of telling you if there's something wrong, but I like gages.

We don't need no stinkin' gauges!!

Gauges are cool. Check the knowledge vault, I have seen stuff on oil and temp gauges there.
Mike.

my thought is that with a roller bearing crank, the oil pressure is not a real useful quantity to know on a regular and continuing basis. if the oil light comes on prior to starting the bike, and turns off immediately after starting the bike, and continues to stay off, then you can consider oil pressure to be a non issue.
i do agree that oil temperature is a useful parameter to monitor. the guage should be very compact, analog, mechanical, and a full sweep design. backlighting is a plus.

Fullpower ic correct about the pressure gauge. No need for one, just another area that could possibly cause a leak. The HD oiling system is pretty good & except for a terminal breakdown..such as the oil pump gear fragmenting...you will never have any issues with it.

Plus with a gauge you would notice that in warm weather at an idle the gauge would most likely read very very low...maybe not at all in fact..then you would worry & get paranoid about something that shouldnt even bother you.

tough to run a mechanical guage if it's on the dash -- that big old copper tube will eventually kink and break, I'm thinkin

I've been running an Autometer Phantom 2 1/8" oil temperature guage for 3 years -- works aces (once I figured out how to seal lit from rain/wash water), and let's me monitor the temp easily (it proved the need for a oil cooler on my bike and for my usage)

temp -- as you (and others) said, pressure less valuable on these motors

Oh, cause in your post you say I've been running an Autometer Phantom 2 1/8" oil pressure guage & it confused me cause I know you run the temp gauge.

Ok I just looked at your profile, in the dash.
I would like to see some pics of the setup though, and of that license plate/ turn signal holder as well. I am thinking of fabricating something and would love some ideas.

You can feel if a Buell is running hot. The leg gauge works well enough for me.
