I bought one of these nifty head sock/neck warmers from Cycle Gear. It has a spandex hood and a thick fleece collar/warmer. Problem is that the fleece around the neck is so thick that it is like wearing a cervical collar when I zip up my jacket. I have to turn my whole body to look behind me. At least it keeps me from biting and scratching I guess.
Any suggestions for something better??

It's not a full head sock, but the wind triangle that Rider Wearhouse sells is great. In real cold I drape it over my chin and fasten the helmet strap around it. Then tuck the bottom of the triangle into the jacket, and I'm good to go. Since it's cinched in, it will move with my head and pivot in the neck opening of the jacket without letting cold air in.

Wind Stopper from Cycle Gear. It doesn't have the fleece and is long enough that once the helmet is cinched the bottem is long enough to fit onto my jacket. Made the ride from Detroit to Appleton more comfortable by keeping my neck warm in the very cold morning part of the ride. (ice formed on my helmet it was that cold)

I have a Pearl Izumi cyclists hood thang which worked well last year on the few occasions i used it , its a thin synthetic 'silk' and it tucked down well into my jacket. I can't remember the price , but it was inexpensive , maybe around 15 bucks
