Oct 28,2004

I have been riding for only this year so if this is common please excuse me.
I was riding the rural back roads in my neck of the woods. I thought I would get a quick ride before it got too cold.
As a rule of thumb, when I approach a horse I usually slow down (someone once told me that horse spook sometimes from bikes??)
Following my normal procedure I slowed down near a farm that has horses.

As I approached there were two horses... when one saw me he jerked his head.
I thought I had spooked him, so I hit the brakes hard. (Of coarse I didn't down shift)
Then to my surprise the horse took of running along the fence that bordered the road. Looking back at me, stopping shortly only to taunt me into engaging him in battle.
Fumbling with my bike (nearly stalling it)
I immediately downshifted fumbling to get my wits about me….

As soon as my speed increased to steed took of like a bullet. Our speeds met at a moderate pace as I rode beside my new friend. Our speeds met as one for 150 yards.
Playing a game of cat and mouse.

It was surreal…I felt as though I was an animal running free. No drug with my pal.
Freedom like I have never felt.
Focused on the moment living in the second.

You like horses? My wife has 7 of the "non-producing assets" that I would gladly dump on anyone who wants them. Of coure it would mean the big "D" for me.

@#$%!! critters anyway.

just kidding,
Rob

They eat em in this part of the world, not me personally y'understand. But horse butchers still exist in France. Many years ago I used to transport sides of horse in a reefer from the UK to Northern France, it looks like a side of beef but much darker.

Mexican restaraunt in Waterloo Belgium -- great horse steaks and you cook them yourself. I only learned of this post-meal. It's much better than Euro beef ; ) (no offense Mr. Grumpy.)
