Hmm, Sox in the Series for the first time since '75 and the 3rd time since 46. Results?
'46 St louis 4 Boston 3
'67 St Louis 4 Boston 3
'75 Cincinati 4 Boston 3

So at least we'll have history behind us ; )
provided we get by those pesky Astros

How could you forget the '86 Mets?! Bill Buckner?? The boot??

The best part of this ALCS is the fact that history is being written! 100 yrs of playoffs and NO ONE had come back from 3 games down to force a game 7...let alone win it!

I'm just glad the Sox get an extra day's rest. After that series they'll need it! (And so do I!!)

Opps, did I miss one? ; ) Mookie Wilson and all maybe I was got confused by Roger Clemens pitching in that series ... yeah that's it. He went 24-4 that year. Damn!

Oh dang...never thought about it that way. Hell must be freezing over. Next thing you know Buell will be announcing it's newest '06 model to be released...a sport-touring-v-rod-powered-tube-framed model..the STVR1! Oh well, if the Sox win the series it was worth it!

Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

Courtesy of KennyBoyerfan in Bernie's Press Box forum:

NOT TODAY

Busch Stadium is not our house.

So I will not waste your time this morning talking about the importance
of the Cardinals protecting our house in Game 6 of the NLCS. I will not broach
the obscenity of seeing Houston players spilling champagne on our living-room carpet.

Busch Stadium is not our house.

It's much more important than that.

It's where many of us watched our first game, caught our first foul ball, begged for our first autograph.

It's where Gibby ruled the mound, where Brock ran like the wind, and
where Ozzie made all the folks go crazy.

It's where the El Birdos dominated, where Sutter struck out the last
batter of 1982, where Mike Shannon has worked since the joint opened in 1966.

The Ol' Redhead managed there. Stan the Man played his harmonica there.

The White Rat led us back to glory there.

This is where Gussie drove the Clydesdales, where Willie McGee tracked
down fly balls, where Joaquin Andujar summed up his philosophy of life in one
simple word: Youneverknow.

This is where Big Mac smacked No. 70, where Tommy Lawless flipped his
bat, where GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY...BRUMMER'S STEALING HOME!!!!!!!

This is where the greatest St. Louis team in Busch Stadium's history
performed. That's right, the 2004 Cardinals. They had the best
home-record, the best record in baseball. Right on that field.

Ted Simmons played there. Kenny Boyer managed there. And a beloved old
man in a bright red jacket told a mournful nation why it was good and right to
play baseball after Sept. 11.

My friends, Jack Buck's coffin rested on that field. Darryl Kile pitched
his last game there. And many of cannot walk into that stadium without
thinking of loved ones who are no longer with us.

Not today.

We don't lose today.

Not against the Houston Astros. Not against a pitcher named clemmens
Not against a wild-card team.

Not in Busch Stadium.

No, it's not our house.

It's simply the place where our memories congregate, where our baseball
dreams are stored, where the voices of millions of fans and the ghosts of
seasons past await their call to arms.

Folks, it's time to wake 'em up.

I have not been to many games, but I was at game 5 in 87, Ozzie's last game, Willie's last game and Jack Buck's Sept 11 speech. I was also there last Thurs in the rain and last night in the glory.

Game time 7:10CST.

Play Ball!

JOSH OH MY GOD THIS IS AWESOME! I am now crying tears of joy. Great post up there by the way. What an amazing group of players this Cardinal team is. Now we need to go to Boston and lay down the law.

Tavarez is awesome did you see how freakin' big his left hand is. Must hurt like a bitch.

My sister and bro-in-law have WS tickets. I've seen them. They are beautiful.

I'd make an attempt at "liberating" them but he has more guns than I do ; )

My wife is a little more into baseball now that she sees half the Cardinals (and Red Sox) are either Puerto Rican or Dominican.

Guess I'll have to celebrate by riding the red and white RS into work tomorrow.

Well Greg and Josh...here we go! The best record in 2004 vs. the best comeback of all time! I just hope the series can live up to the NLCS and the ALCS.

GO SOX!

what a couple of amazing series! i hope the world series is at least close to being as good. it sure would have been nice for the astros to make it for the first time but they still had an awesome year. at least they don't have the pressure of letting the red sox win and end the 'curse of the bambino'. here is hoping for a great series.

Okay, I'm taking bids. If you want your team to win, send me money and I'll route for the other team. Imagine the pressure on the Cubs if the Sox win. LOL

That is the only reason I wouldn't be to upset if the Cards lost. Then they are left as being the only cursed and perennial losers in baseball. The Cubs Cards rivalry is huge so regardless of who wins the Scru... I mean Cubs are screwed. Who do they go for? Their big rival or the other cursed team. Tough decision which is why I am glad I was born in St. Louis and have been a lifelong Cards fan.

I would be happy if the Red Sox win the World Series. However, I'm happier that they beat those arrogant, obnoxious, overpaid jerks from the Bronx.
Hey Blake; when you Route for a team, you're planning a trip itinerary. When you Root for a team, you're cheering them on.
Picky, ain't I?

I've talked to a few Sox fans and we all agree that if they don't win the series it'll be okay. After what they did to the Yankees, winning the World Series is the cherry on top. Don't get me wrong, I want them to win it, but it really doesn't matter. Just to see those damn Yankees lose 4 straight and 2 at home....priceless!

Ok then, preparation is the key to everything, so;

potato chips? check
coke & root beer? check
pretzels? check
cookies? check

Comfy chair ready? check
Alarm clock set for very early in the morning? check

Well I'm ready then.
GO CARDS

You know, if the Red Sox can win the World Series, then there's hope that Buell will release a Sport Touring successor to the S3-T. There's also hope that I could win a Mega Million dollar Lottery. I'd say that the odds of any one of those three things happening are about equal.
The lottery odds are roughly 1:135,000,000.

Hey, you gotta let them win one at home, just so they can hold their heads up to the Yanks & say they didn't get swept.
