Yep, down here in Yuma we were lucky enough to have a BattleTrax today. Not too many participants, but we did it anyway. As far as participants go, the Buells represented. Charlieboy6649 XB9grl (Charlie's wife) XB9rski, the man with over 38,000 on his XB. Keep riding it till it siezes Ski. Myself, SouthernMarine. I wasn't able to bring my bike out, started it up and sputter sputter, fouled plug, not enough time to change it. Reg was nice enough to let me demo the CityX that Buell had give him for BattleTrax. LOVE THAT BIKE. I HAVE to put those tires on my 12R. I'm pretty sure this isn't my time. I promised I'd take it easy, my best time was only 41.92 Hubby and Wife, (Charlie and Elizabeth) Did I say I liked that CityX The only problem is that they need to make the front part of the seat a little wider. I think that might help in preventing the sliding forward I experienced and have heard about. Reg Kittrelle, the man running the show, talking with Ski XB9grl, Elizabeth trying out the CityX We told Charlie he could scrape his pegs.... ...but we also had to tell him he couldn't SNAP them off... Don't worry, he didn't lay it down on the course. The only one to do that was one of the stunt riders who attempted to ride the course. Man, they cannot ride. Oh....notice the new design for the front brake lever that Charlie came up with. Still not sure if I like it. Did I say I liked the CityX Couple of the stunt riders, this was about the only bike they could ride around the course without laying it down. I missed the shot, but this one rode a wheelie around the course.... 65. something. Ski took second place, Kid on a GXR took 1st. Marines took 1, 2, and 3. Marines wife took 4th. I didn't compete, just rode for fun. (Message edited by SouthernMarine on October 24, 2004) |

Sorry we missed it Charlie. We actually got our sponsorship from the dealer here in Vegas, so we were busy doing a little PR work with the people here. Hopefully we'll be doing a BTX here in Vegas some time next year. Catch ya later Nick |

I got a few more pics. Some of them needed sharpening, as I don't yet have a tank bag in which to carry my good camera... A couple of Elizabeth: A couple of Charlie riding: And a couple of Charlie doing what Elizabeth says he does best Actually, the asphalt was pretty rough and Charlie was the only one of us who got off his duff to clean it up. What SouthernMarine didn't tell you is that, going into her 4th run, Elizabeth had the best run to that point. The competition wasn't for best time, but to guess most accurately your average time over 4 runs. She was only off by 0.07 seconds after 3. If she'd have stayed there, she'd have even beaten the guy on the Gixxer, but her final run was a bit too fast. |

Thanks for reminding me Ethan, here we go for the times: Charlie guessed 36.5, he averaged 36.78. His fastest time was 34 something. Elizabeth guessed 50.25, she averaged 50.18, I think her best time was 48.61. Ski guessed 41.15, he averaged 40.96. His fastest, I believe, was around 38 or 37. I know he was being gentle because he rode his bike down from Gilbert and wanted to ride it back. Me, I didn't compete. But, my fastest time on the CityX was only 41.92. I promised him I'd be careful with it. Now to go get some new plugs for my bike. The Marine on the GXSR that won, guessed 34.8 and I believe his average was 34.70, or 34.9, he was .10 off. Elizabeth had it in the bag until her last run, I think that is when she decided to make that one her fastest run yet. All in all, we had a good time. Reg was great and I appreciate him letting me take the CityX out for a spin on the lot and on the course. |

Hey all, Thanks a million for coming out. For those who didn't, you missed out! The event wasn't as big as I would've liked, oh well, first year. Maybe it'll be bigger next year. The bike is ridable and on the mend. I've already got calls in to DaveS for parts LOL! Dave check your messages in parts if your listening... Funny that I dumped it AFTER I crossed the finish line. That clock is addictive! Was trying to squeeze more time before the finish than I should've. P.S. THE SLIDERS WORK, BUY THEM! $40 vice $1400. The bar-end sliders saved my handlebar, the frame puck did their magic, and the dark horse swingarm sliders worked as advertised. What I failed to tell everyone is that I meant to conduct the "experiment". |

Charlie, I'll be back at work tomorrow, been on vacation. I'll check the parts dept but I work in the sales dept. so when you call and need parts(I know this is weird) you need to leave the message on my voice mail in the sales dept. I'll get it figured out and I should have everything you need in stock so I can send it out tomorrow. Glad you had a good time at BattleTrax! Dave |

Charlie which peg do you need? the "R" or the "S"? Call me, I have a spare set of "S" pegs you can borrow for a bit. |

Man, I couldn't find any spark plugs in Yuma, at ALL, today. I orderd some NGK's from NAPA, they said they'd have them for me on Tuesday. I had them order me a set of regular and the iridiums. The regular NGK's are like $2.50 ea and the Iridium's are like $8.00 ea. Oh well. I'll have a spare set now. Maybe the next BattleTrax I can attend I'll be able to ride my bike. A good time was had by all. (Message edited by SouthernMarine on October 24, 2004) |

Southern, Make sure you get the bike in to get checked out anyway. I don't think your front plug should've been black like that??? Wycked, I broke my right "S" peg. I really don't know how I'd get it from ya beeinz that I'm at Camp Pendleton for the next six weeks. Thanks for the offer though. If Dave sends em tomorrow, I'll have em next weekend when I come home again. Took a great "alternate" ride to Pendleton today. Instead of taking the straight "8", I went north on S-2 at Occotillo to the 78 and over the mountains, Julian, Ramona, Escondido. That was the first time I'd ever been on S-2. God I had no idea it was that beautiful. If any of you San Diego guys are listening, it would make a great loop! |

The 78 is an EXCELLENT ride. I took that back from the American Sport Bike BBQ. All the way through Glamis and into Blythe. Once you get a ways this side of Glamis it's "ok" but all the way from the coast to about 50 miles east of Glamis is just great. I think the big desent out of the mountains coming this direction is called "Banner Grade" by the locals? |

I'll have em next weekend when I come home again And if Dave happens to be out of stock or they are on back order I can just as easily mail you a set tuesday that will be in Yuma by Friday. |

First in battle, first in BattleTrax. Thanx to all the Marines (and wives!) that participated. The event (car show, bike show, golf cart show(!) and BattleTrax) was small, but the promoter was happy… just needs to do a bit more promo work. The site was good once a couple of hundred laps were run. It's old asphalt, so we had to break off the pebbles a bit; took a lot of sweeping. Thanx again, Reg |

Hey Mr. Kittrelle, Would you consider starting and maintaining a permanent Battle Trax topic on the Storm Fronts page? If so, feel free to send me whatever text and images you'd like to have appear permanently atop the page and whether you'd like it to be set up as one serial forum or a topic driven format. With all the different events a topic driven format would seem most appropriate. It sure would be great to have your input here. (Message edited by blake on October 25, 2004) |

Blake… Thanx for the invite, but I can't even find time to keep up my BTX site. We've got some changes in store for '05, so MAYBE we can get together on something in the future. BTW: There'll be another BTX at Stockton Honda (Stockton, CA) on Nov. 21. (MR! Kittrelle?!! ) |

Hey Blake, There's already a Battletrax anyone thread there... But, alas, no-one seems to use it often. Need some advice, anyone, I broke my stock blinker. Would like to put some trick aftermarket blinkers up front but the threaded shaft is a larger diameter than the surlin and magnesium brace. Does anyone forsee any problem with drilling it out? I've never drilled magnesium. I guess it would be OK so long as I increased the bore gradually with the bits....? |

AS I said in the storm fronts, take it slow. The surlyn is soft and tends to melt instead of cut so drill that out slowly as well. |

Bad… The only thing firm is at West Bend Buell on June 2 or 3, as part of the BRAG activity. I;ll be talking with Dave S. at Appleton to see if he wants to get soething going there. Also, I've had "feelers" froma couple of dealers in that area. BTW: When customers ask them if they're planning one has a great impact on their decision; talk with the owners, not the clerks. Thanx for asking |

Thanks, keep us posted since I'm still Flash disabled. At least they/BuellWeb opened up some of their pages to the Flashless ones out here. Please post any dates you learn about over in the calender thread that Jerry/Ferris rescued from the QuickBoard and reStarted in the StormFronts section. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/80649.html?1098741569 |

(psst, hey Mike, this would be a perfect time to further validate the creation of YOUR new 2005 Ride Calendar by cutting and pasting Reg's Stockton BattleTrax note above into said thread, which may also encourage others to do the same as little bits of ride and/or event info pop up sporadically here and there throughout the BADWEB. a thought, anyway. if it was MY thread, that's what I'D do.) |
