i got to test ride a new 04 sportster custom. i didn't really want to, but i was fixing the guys air conditioner and he thought i needed to ride it. i couldn't believe how much vibration it had. the forward foot pegs vibrate a lot and i felt a lot of vibration from the air cleaner where it touched my leg. this bike vibrated way more than a 04 xb12s. my 88 sportster even vibrates less. this bike had a air cleaner and slip ons. acceleration, even with the extra power was no better and maybe less than a stock 03 sportster. my impression was what a lard butt sportsters have become. it's going to need about 88 cubes to be fast maybe more. buell's have the vibration under control way better. | ||

Now don't post that on a sportster forum ... but I can agree with you. I was all but impressed with a test ride on an '04 custom. | ||

yes the poor sportster is gettin to be an old girl, she just put on 60 lbs, and she still jiggles a bit. kind of hard not to compare one to a dyna now. i dont know what HD is thinking, but they wont sell me one of those pigs. my 1998 sportster weighs 480 with a full tank, a new one goes almost 600. that is disgusting. |
