Wished I could. I'll be at Rockingham with Tilley's. If Tripp wins at "The Rock", we'll get to run two more races on the Buell this year.

With Tripp leading in the points in the V-rod class all we need to do is win at Rockingham, that will be the end of the drag racing season for us, I hope. I'll find out later this week from Tripp what tracks and the dates.

I'm hoping to make it up there on the 10th, but I can't guarantee anything at this point.

Likewise, I'll only be able to make the 10th, but how about arranging some kind of meet & greet? I've been there for WERA and Formula USA events where it's not too hard to stake out real estate but I understand that the AMA event is a bit more congested. Could, or would someone who's going for both days claim a spot for the group? If this could happen, where would everyone like that place to be? Personally, I like being in the turn 3-4 area or at the bottom of the rollercoaster up on th hill.

If I get up there in time, Ill do my best to get some room - Do they allow ezups to be put up while a big race is on ? If so Ill get my EZup up there some how and string it with BRAg banners, if they allow for it of course.

You could wear a backpack but that will wear you out quickly. You can loosen the straps on the backpack so that it rests on the seat, that helps a lot.

You can bungee/strap the stuff across the passenger seat, just be careful it does not roll over to one side or another.

For anyone interested - I pitched my EZup this afternoon almost right beside the stands in turn 4/5 . Its a blue one with black supports. Come on by if you are in the area, this should be a real good place to watch from !

I went up today to watch practice and our guy Mike was turning 1:32s, but, he was changing setup (or something ), so a string of laps only lasted for 2-3 laps. The weather looks awesome, the races look awesome, whats stopping you from coming out !

Congratulation are in order - Mike finished the race 4th place ! Both Mike and Barnes got good starts, with Barnes running in the top spot up to turn 3. A mechanical failure of some sort kept him from finishing the race. Mike ran strong and got into the 1:29s during qualifing ! He battled with Opie Caylor for the whole race , and what a race it was . The battle up frnt. was a short one, with Miguel opening up a lead after just a few laps.Final order was
1- Miguel Duhamel
2- Vincent Hasvkovec
3- Doug Chandler
4- Mike Ciccotta !
5- Chris "Opie" Caylor
And there was much happiness in Buell land !
Heres looking forward to Daytona !

Jose and I went by Mike's pit after the race, along with a couple more Buell enthusiasts. Mike still has a big knot on the back of his right hand from when he broke it at Road Atlanta. You could tell it was hurting but he still had a big grin on his face. They said he called Erik as soon as he could to give him the good news. Of course, Jose got some mug shots with Mike. I'm sure those will show up soon!

Ready for some VIR pics?

Here we go.

First up I visited the Kosco and Hal's Buell pits and bugged them for a while, they were kind enough to let me take some shots.

Notice the "differences" in the bikes:

After the race, Terry was kind enough to let a few of us sit on the Backup Bike. The race bike's frame was still very hot to the touch!

The most interesting pit area to watch was the Ducati Austin team. Not only did Ducati bring over Regis Laconin and Lorenzo Lanzi, their whole crews came with them.

It looked like a bomb had gone off in that pit area after Saturday practice because there were 999 parts scattered everywhere. They were changing engines left and right and tearing the bikes down to the frame and putting them back together.

I went by the pits at around 8 pm on Saturday night, and they were still working on the bikes, wrench on one hand, pizza slice on the other and speaking Italian. I did not have a camera at that time, so I missed getting a shot of one of the mechanics hoding a slice of pizza right over the airbox/engine as he worked. Maybe that's why one of the Ducs didn't finish one of the races Sunday?

I managed to get the Ducati riders as they posed on the Podium Saturday Afternoon, and then scored when I got Laconin Sunday Morning, he was kind enough to pose next to his bike:
