A Minneapolis judge Friday affirmed a federal magistrate's ruling that former U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow was on official business when he caused a crash that killed a Minnesota motorcyclist.

If the ruling stands, U.S. taxpayers, not Janklow, would pay any civil damages in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Randy Scott's family.

Apparently not.

I don't care if was on official business.

What's official business? If he goes to the store to buy food so he can sustain himself and thus perform his congressional duty, is he on official business when he does it? When is he NOT on duty?

What if the family of the victim sues in civil court and doesn't name the government as a defendant?

I do NOT see how he is not culpable for this on a personal level.

We the people of the United States do hereby forbid the elected leaders of this great nation to SPEED, RUN STOP SIGNS, KILL OTHER MOTORISTS, BLAME THE DEAD GUY, AND THEN HAVE OUR TAXES PAY FOR IT while carrying out their official business.

Do we need to be that precise or can we let existing vehicle code cover it?

Martha gets prison time for lying to a cop.
This guy gets off with 100 days and makes ME PAY THE BILL for lying about KILLING SOMEONE.

I'm absolutely disgusted.
