Isn't it true that objects going faster than the speed of light turn white? Or is that only in the Battle Star Galactica Series? (Message edited by Ingemar on September 30, 2004) |

Ah, but CJ, until you actually ride under one until the moon sets on the morning horizon you can never really fully appreciate one. Riding or walking, hiking or crawling, one must experience it at least once in their lifetime. Nice job Glitch. |

There is nothing close to the look of the Harvest Moon rising up out of the ocean on a fall night!!! Of course being the most easterly on the Continent I get to see it FIRST!!!! This is a shot of the lights of St. John's taken last night. I happened to be at Cape Spear with the Canon Digital Rebel - damm what a fine camera This one is looking East - So just go straight for about 3 days by boat and you somewhere in Europe.

Ya know, speaking of the speed of light, how fast is a headlight's light when standing still versus heading down the highway at 55mph? Wouldn't it be going faster than the speed of light? Or are we actually catching up with light that is going slower than the speed of light when we're riding along a freeway at 55mph? That question is the basis for Einstein's Theory of Relativity. The speed of light (in a vacuum) is an absolute constant no matter what is going on (it's independant of the speed of the light source, the speed of an observer etc.). That creates a paradox since the speed of the light is constant, but someone who was traveling very close to the same speed as the light beam would seem to think the light was moving very slowly while someone who wasn't moving would think it was going very fast. To explain how that could be possible Einstein theorized that time itself had to depend on perspective. As for what would happen if you turned on your headlight at the speed of light . . . at the speed of light, time would stand still and you wouldn't be able to move to hit the switch. Of course you'd never be able to get up to the speed of light because your mass would become infinite at the speed of light and you would therefore need an infinite amount of energy to accelerate yourself to that point. |

Both good questions. I'll be getting the streetfighter seat soon, as I can only stand about six hundred miles in a day on the stock seat. Can't do anything about the milage. Maybe I'll truck it. I could be the chase/camera truck, maybe I could film a documentry on travling from the south east to the north east. Total Est. Time: 57 hours, 9 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2558.63 miles

2500 miles is not all that bad. Mapquest also lies about driving time as you can travel much better than they allow. If your serious so am I!!!! Could time it around Laconia Bike Week and meet up there. |
