I got a phone call this morning that a friend had gone down in Boone. He was in surgery last night and is now recovering. This afternoon I get a phone call that there was another rider down and he has been life-flighted to a trauma center with more serious injuries. If anyone has any info let us know! Please RIDE SAFE! I hate this.

Ted.... if you find out who it was PLEASE post. Some of our group (3%ers are up there). Shred was the first one to go down and is a 3%er. He is pretty banged up (femur, ankle, and finger fracture and dislocated shoulder) He's tough and will be ok in time.

I hope whomever it was that was life flighted will be ok. Our prayers are with them.

I hope he didn't sustain any spinal cord injury. If I hear anything I'll let you know. He is probably in Johnson, TN or the Asheville area.

Thanks for the updates Ted. In another thread, it sounds like he is scheduled for surgury tomorrow morning.

If you can think of anything we can do to help in this type of situation, please give us suggestions.

I asked this a lot earlier in the year & im asking it agin...WTF is with all the accidents this year?? Is it a lot of newbie riders? Experienced riders who are getting too cocky & trying to ride above either theirs or their bikes ability?

Any ideas??

Hey it's Cameron from the Dealership. Pete is in Johnson City Medical Center. His wife and family should be there by 8:00 P.M. tonight. Amy (Pete's wife) will call me as soon as she has more news. Pete's mother-in-law works at Shepherd spinal center and has a great network of surgeons to work with. I don't know if he will have surgery in Tenn. or they will move him back to Atlanta. I will try to post more info as I get it. I cannot post from home, so if anyone wants more info. post your cell # and I will call everyone that I can. Pete is one of my best friends and I am hopeful for the best. Cameron

Cameron...
Thanks for the update, please let me know as soon as you know anything as I am considering heading up.

Squid...
Both riders were members of my club and extremely experienced riders.
That being said both of them were not scared to push it either.

Just seems like a huge influx of accidents in the last year & particularly in the last 6 months.

Course im also seeing it in my own area, 6 fatal accidents this summer with 4 in the last 2 weeks.

To Squid: Pete was a very experienced rider. This is why they are called accidents, not purposes. A truck was turning in front of Pete and he had to go off road into the grass. He landed on a rock which damaged his back. I would think you would have more respect for people who are friends with Pete. I think it might be best if you don't know about someones riding ability, keep your freakin mouth shut.

Hey.. don't know any of these guys, but for sure know the BRP. I was raised not too far from there. Great place for bikers, and cagers drive like fools there in all weather.

Anyway... my thoughts and prayers are with you guys!

Why dont you chill out Cameron? I asked an opinion on why so many accidents this year. Sorry to say but it seems like the more experienced riders tend to take more chances than new riders will & they will at times ride over their abilities. Did anyone say it was his fault?? Of course not.

Travis pointed out that both riders werent afraid to push it on the street, maybe the street riding should be dialed back just a bit & always leave a little in reserve?

This is not the time or place for this discussion!

Cameron,
Dyna did not place any blame on either rider. he merely asked a question as to why the accidents seemed to be so many this year. The Buell Homecoming had no bad accidents. But so many other Buell gatherings have been plagued by some really bad ones and even a death. I have stopped riding aggressively on the street and save my wild side for track days where there are no cars involved.

seems to be more than the usual share going down this year. both of my friends went down, and today I got a call from another that her husband is being airlifted after someone turned infront of him... dont know all the details but he is talking, whatever that means.

2 out of 3 were idiot drivers 'I didn't even see him'
I've been talking to another freind about it and he said the same thing about the number of bike crashes this year, he named off 8 people that he rides with that went down, one death.

weird.
hope all tunrs out well.

Will, I understand the emotional side of it well. A friend of mine & co-worker was killed last friday leaving work. Got 2 blocks from the plant in the industrial park & a car pulled out of another plants driveway & hit him. He was airlifted to Milwaukee where he died.
I attended his wake wednesday night & dont wish to be attending anymore. Thats why I asked...whats up with all the accidents this year??

Hey guys just moved away from Johnson City TN and well I know that hospital pretty well. But those are other stories. Just wanted to say that anybody there is in good hands. It is a very pretty location to be holed up in for a while as well.

Pete is in ICU and will go into surgery at 9:00am.
He has tingling is his legs and is on the good drugs.
His family is by his side and they will return him to Atlanta as soon as he stabilizes.

Wish him godspeed!
