Looking over my 2000 m2 today I noticed that there was a Harley symbol embossed on the side of the carb. I've had the bike for about 2 months and have had the feeling that the carb is not really playing the game, but havn't worried about it too much. Now I wonder if this is right or if maybe the previous owner thought the Buell carb would look better on a sporty. Any info would be appreciated.

If you want to spend a bit of cash, replace with a Mikuni, or if you're tight like me, change the jets where necessary (see knowledge vault for details) and bore out the hole in the slide a little, I took mine out to 3mm and it made quite a difference.
Whatever happens have fun.

Harleys & Buells used the same carbs, at least later models did.

I agree with the Mikuni advice, swapped one onto my Dyna & it rocks.

Or if you really want to have some fun, go to www.woodcarbs.com and talk with Bob Wood. He takes a stock CV and bores it out. It ends up performing better than a jetted Mikuni 42! It you want to go bigger he has that too. I also run a set of his Knight Prowler cams in my X-1. Good stuff

They have a variation on dual carbs too:

moby -- that's the right carb on your bike, but it needs some jetting work to be at it's best (see the knowledge vault for good base line jetting tips)

folks that changed to Mikes love em

no such animal as a "Buell" carb, btw

Nah, I'd just go and lowside it coming out of a corner. I'll leave it be lest something think I was tootin my own horn or sumthin.

I am starting to think some of the dual carb again, but am stuck in somewhat of a conundrum with the bikes at present as far as modding vs leaving them alone and intended/needed uses and such. One works as is for one aspect, but would be better suited to the hot rodding, the other is less suited for an intended need but would best be left basically alone, but then again I could do some modding and glass work I've been thinkin of without upsetting too many of the masses (not that that's ever been too much of a concern of mine anyway) and turn #2 into a dual-carbie bike if I do a little shaving and balancing and such. Need to contact Hoser up north before I do though for a little experienced input on the work it would entail. Think I could do it up relatively within a limited budget shooting for a Springtime CrudRun unveiling. Would be close and tight but remotely doable. The mind now wanders off into thoughts and away from typing on the screen here as I ponder and plan the conundrum.

sidenote buried in the posting of a Buell related but personal nature:
Looks like the ChicagoLand business trip is postponed for next week, which is good anyway since I haven't procured the raw materials nor had the time to do some dimensional checks yet anyway. Will be in touch to perhaps test the working of your fine milling machine at some later date if that be acceptable to you sir.

(I seem to be off into some differential thought zone today, must be cued up to dive deep into plotting and planning redesigns and creative modifications, surf's up and clear skies - diving in to wonderland)

Mike, I bet if you talked with Bob down there, he'd be willing to modify that manifold to fit your bike. Heck, I might even call him myself and see what he would do to run that dual carb setup. As it is, he is having me run a 48 slow and 200 main jets just to make sure I get enough fuel for the cams and head work.

The local fire marshal is going to love me come late December. The neighbors shortly after that.

Well, you can always pack the milling machine up and bring it down here to VA. My garage/shop is heated already and we can have plenty of room to test parts....
