they are very close in profile. you will not be able to tell the difference. if the v4 isnt enough cam, then try the v9. i am runing the n6 and find them to be a very mild hi torque cam, run pretty smooth down to 2000 rpm, start pulling strong around 3500 and still pulling at 6500 limiter. |

question though: the V series is for 4 speeds. the 5 speed cases use the N cams. i would consider selling my set of N6 cams, i would love to run some N9's. |

To quote Aaron, who quotes Ron: "look for what is holding you back." Just swapping parts without a clear picture and a plan may just end up costing you $$ with no gain. Henrik |

Speaking of cams -- In the olden shovelhead days they ran what looked like a roller cam/solid lifter in the 80 ci motors. I think that played into my feeling that the evo motors never sounded quite as good with the hydraulic lifters. Any chance of putting a roller into a Buell or are we too limited a market for that to ever happen? |

I think we do use hydraulic roller lifters... From what I hear (I guess I never checked my manual though) just about everything that can be a roller/ball/needle bearing is. |

I think easy is referring to roller style rockers. And yes you can get them. Unless he is referring to roller style lifters, if so I think you can get those as well. http://www.heavydutycycles.com/rocker1a.htm http://www.cranecams.com/?show=imageDownload&dir=Motorcycle%2F http://www.cas4.com/engine/engine-lifter-tappet-roller2.html http://www.andrews-products.com/motorcycle/cams/evolution_sportster_cam_gear_noi.htm There's more out there, way more, any decent performance shop can set you up right. |

All the EVOs have roller lifters, but you can always get some upgraded ones--like Jims Hydro-solids.They act like solids after a certain RPM supposed to give better HP at top end.Have them in a couple of engines. |

As a matter of fact, I use Fueling Twin Cam hydraulic roller lifters in my X-1. The JIMS hydrosolids are supposed to be really good, but with that comes price. The Fueling stuff is also really good, but is a lot cheaper price. Just FYI. |

I was referring to the lifters. I thought part of that lovable rattle in my rocker covers was from cam hitting the lifter. 'Parently not if all evo's already have roller's. I wondered why the HD took a step "backward" when I was told they had regular lifters in them. Maybe it's the definition of regular. Blue, Were the Fueling's any quieter? I know that's not normally the goal for an aftermarket cam but I'd really prefer to have a quieter valvetrain. I may end up with just a louder exhaust to get me through! |
