Now that it's been out for a while, I'm wondering what all of you think of the Buell product CD? Better than a brochure? Why or why not? Will other motorcycle companies follow Buells lead and do the same thing in the future? Why or why not? What percentage of people interested in a Buell do you think do not own a computer(yes, I know all of you already do) I, for one think it's a great idea! I just want some of your opinions and thoughts as well. Thank you for your time. Dave |

Dave - I'd like one but it may be a while before I can stop in... Maybe try to remember for the next time I order something? To answer your question - Every person I've met riding a Buell that I hadn't already met here does not have their own PC (a total of three people). One connected to the badweb via a public terminal at my request but is just a lurker. The other may as well have asked me what the internet is... I think the best use for them would be to put them on the counters of HD dealerships. If you could sneak some into some Honda dealerships that would be cool to. I wonder what it would cost to have a CD-sleeve built into the back page of a moto rag like you see with some PC rags? I would imagine that a LOT of people will just skim over a standard add in a magazine but if you give them a CD they'll almost certainly take a look... |

I think the Buell vidoes rock. Not sure about the computer thing. I would guess that most potential Buell riders probably do have access to a computer. Most young people do and anyone with children will most likely have an internet connected computer. But what is this thing you call a "CD"? |

Well it is cool that there is that format available, BUT... You can't take it in the john an read it (don't give me that laptop bunk) You can't tear the pics out to post all over the garage, work, locker, etc. |

I like it, most everything on it is available at Buell.com for those that don't have the CD yet. The CD package itself has individual pictures and stats for all the bikes, so you can take it to the bathroom if you really wanted to... The music videos are pretty good, but they are not as good as the new one KTM put out for their 990 Duke |

Great idea!! From a strictly economic standpoint it's got to be a lot less expensive for Buell to make and less expensive to dealers. There's more information on the CD that could never be placed in an average sized brochure. I got a CD from my Chevy dealer when I was looking to purchase a 2004 Silverado and one for the new Suburban. I think you'll see more and more companies using this technology. It may pay for a dealer to have a Demo computer to play it in though, which would also work well for sports shows or other events away from the actual dealership. |

Daves, Great idea, and well put together. The negative, though, is that that producer of the CD must've been about the same age as some of my kids and assumes that we're all 22. Sigh! I guess all us ol' fossils with Tubers oughta slink off into the weeds to die. Maybe I would've enjoyed it more if Eric Clapton did the video. Oh wait...he's old too. |

Jeez, Spidey, that's what the boss's wife said about it. I thought she was crazy thinking people still read stuff in the bathroom. You know it does have a printable version on the CD don't you, print it out and go read til your butt falls asleep. Crip, all Buell dealers have the CD. Or, call me and I'll send you one. Captainkirk, I'm 41 and I like the videos! It is "spot on" for Buells target market(your kids) It doesn't mean you should "slink off" it's just nobody's new product brochures focus on anything but new product. I think you have hit on a good thought though, they could've out a "history of Buell" segment in there. That would be cool! Dave |

Daves, As a matter of fact, my kids DO like the XB's. Actually, I do too. They just seem to be lacking the....hooliganism?punk?jamesdean?...that the tubers radiate...like some kind of pheromone...especially the S1 and S2, that lured me in in the first place. You know, the (paper) advertising brochures that Buell did in the late nineties-through 2002 were just incredible sales tools. They literally made me want a Buell as much as sitting on one did. I'd leaf through them on cold winter evenings while slugging down a cold one or two, and dream about Buells all night. The one thing that attracted me to Buell so much was the fact that these bikes were NOT mainstream, outside the box ("definitely different" and the looks you get ("What the @#%& is that!)all played a part in it. The new bikes, while better handling and just as quick, lack a little of the pizazz that the early tubers had. They've DEFINITELY achieved their goal of targeting the younger market in droves and it's an incredible machine, but something's missing IMHO. But maybe it's just me!} |

While agreed that the XB doesn't have the hooligan look that I fell in love with with the S-1, the bike in my opinion definitely has sexier more refined lines than any other Honakawayamazuki. It was the clean/naked what ever you prefer, look that drew me to the XB. I first saw it in Japan and said, "Wow, I can't wait to get back to the States!" It's a different perspective when your in Japan and the Jap bikes are all you see... |

What was there on the CD was great, I appreciated it, but wish it had more. Very high resolution copies of the photos, higher resolution vidoes, longer segments of the interviews with Erik, more behind the scenes stuff. It was good, but I was dissapointed it just (for the most part) only mirrored what I had already seen on the Buell web site. |

I like the CD and I think it should be the way of Marketing in the future. I've digested all the information on it and hope I don't have to wait until MY 2006 for the next one. Actually I haven't seen my copy since I lent it to my boss... 1313 |

>I don't care for the CD only format. But my stock in trade is carrying a load of Buell hard copy literature and making converts of those confused souls awash in a sea of motorcycle confusion and misinformaiton. Second only to raw enthusiasm is the slick full color brochure as the weapon of choice for the Buell Guerilla Marketing Team. Court |

Ralph pointed out Chevy using the CD's. Before we bought the new truck the salesmen gave me a brochure & it had a cd in it...each cd is model specific..the information on that disc is what sold me on the truck. Had all the info I was looking for, didnt need to rely on a salesman for any of it. I havent seen the new Buell CD yet, but if it has all the same stuff as the website...well thats cool and all...but I also think it could throw a few extras that arent on the site. Maybe footage from something like the 20th where they are interviewing some of the participants? Clips from one of Daves track days or B-trax events?? |

Great idea, Dyna, as this could be a stong tie in for BRAG. As some may have forgotten this CD is really not for us, those who are already passionate and knowledgeable about the brand. Showing some of the "life style" footage could pose questions to a dealer who could then offer up some past copies of Fuell and start some further conversation. Granted, not every dealer has a BRAG group but they should at least be familiar with the events that BRAG puts on. I had an enthusiastic salesman when I bought my first Buell but maybe the addition of some of the event footage might wake a few saleman up?? |

I just went through the CD and very much enjoyed it. It does a very good job of hitting the target market. I just showed it also a couple people that aren't keen on being bike owners, who walked away from the whole thing with a feeling of wonder...wonder of what its like to roll through those canyons, to flick between the cars and just the sense of freedom the videos gave (the two nonstunt oriented). I am suppossed to take one for a ride in a couple days so they can get a feel for what its like to be on a bike. Something they have never done. They just aren't impressed with the hyperbikes but don't want to spend the dosh for the HD customs. The second has been thinking of getting a Sportster but are going to head to Hacienda and check out a Lightning instead. So how is that for feedback? |

This CD has become a joke around the Dealership. They all know how many times my bike has had problems and when one of the salespersons gave me a CD to check out, guess what...............It Didn't Work! Sometimes I fell there must be a hidden camera watching me for a new Candid show. I still have to get a replacement CD, then I'll let you know what I think. |

Was in my local dealer on Saturday for a parts run...asked about the CD, got a puzzled look and a "no we haven't received any yet." - ah well... I really can't complain about my personal experiences with them, most good. However, I did find it odd that this trip there was not a single Buell for sale in the shop - no new, no used, not even a Blast. They swear they are big supporters of Buell, but I find it increasingly hard to believe that statement. This spring when they had their annual customer appreciation day and bike show, my S2 was the ONLY Buell there (except for the XB and the Blast in the showroom). Ah well, good excuse to take a ride!!! |
