XB9R. Suspension set soft with dealer/mech assistance. My weight - 140ish lbs.

Yesterday, riding, rear end felt kinda loose/floaty (when under power - not braking). Just a little. And only on straightaways. Very fine in turns where I would have expected this to manifiest itself.

Coming to a straight line stop, the rear tire twice snicked to one side a little - as if it had skipped over a stone or something. I didn't think anything more of then possibly a backfire or something being transmited to the wheel ala zero lash belt and all...

Could all be in my head as well - I'd had a dizzy spell the day before.

I'll go back in and get some fine-tuning if it continues. Going soft gives me a little front end dive I do not know if is appropriate (some is normal - I know that). I just wanted to get some comments in the meantime.

This might sound like a dumb question, but were you on the rear brake as well? During heavy front braking, it is VERY easy to lock the rear and make it kick out on you.

Other than that, no suggestions - I'm FAR from a suspension whiz. I just set mine up according to the aggressive settings from Battle2win...still deciding if I like it; kinda stiff for Michigan roads. Holy confidence-inspiring when coupled with the new M1s, though. I'm still a little paranoid about pushing it since the tires only have 65 miles or so on them, but what a difference between the tires, fork oil, and suspension settings.

You're about my weight, though, so if you get a setup you really like, I'm interested in hearing about it.

I rode a Sportster a few weeks ago that had a very similar problem. I asked around and was told that it very probably was the rear axle adjustment. The axle not being adjusted the same on both sides. I was unable to check it out any further.
This felt like it had a flat rear tire during a roll on at 50 or so miles per. VERY SPOOKY!

Have you rode up towards Lansing yet?

Nope, was what I would'a thought as normal braking. But I will keep this in mind, thanks.
