As you can see our harbour is one of the most naturally protected in the world. In the first photo where the boat is entering through the Narrows the British and American Military used to hang a giant net made of chains across the entrance to keep german torpedos and subs from entering. | ||

I've seen that thing up close down at St. Thomas. I believe it is supposed to be one of the largest cruise ships in the world, if not the largest. | ||

That is huge! I took pics of the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth passing outside the dining room window, under the bridge, a couple months ago and the darn things were wider than the framing of the camera. Amazing engineering. | ||

SouthernMarine, I think your speaking of "voyager of the seas" or something. Saw it down in St. Thomas also this past april. the Boat you are speaking of is much larger than that one! | ||

Does anyone have any links to pics of what the underwater portion of that boat looks like? Thanks. I always wonder if one of those would tip over if everyone ran from one side to the other all at once. | ||

I have been on The Voyager and the Explorer of the Seas, they are sister ships. They were the biggest in the world... 17+ stories tall. and too wide for the Panama Canal. Frigging AWESOME! I have been married for 3 years and the wife and i make sure to try to go on a cruise everyother year. I HIGHLY recommend it. Best money you will ever spend on a Vacation. The ship is UNBELIVABLY manuverable. No tug boats needed... the propellers (unipods) are capible of turning 360 degrees, and the foward thrusters can turn that ship on a dime. Belive it or not Newfie from the Voyager We were 2 stories higher than the Grand Princesses(the ship in the top photo) and there were 2 decks left to go.... There is a Full 18 hole put put course, 1500 crew Ice Rink (only one in existance on a ship), 3200 guests, Over 1000' long, 138,000 TONS! BIG M'er F'er But the new Queen Mary is MUCH BIGGER! crazy stuff nowadays... | ||

And Koz, that wing on the back is a BAR, My family has cruised on that ship.. I guess it is like a Club after midnight. Here are a couple pics of the inside of the Voyager...  This is the Theater at the back of the ship  this is the Ice Rink  This is in the Pramanade at the Center of the Ship.... FREAKING AWESOME  This is the Dinning room off the Pramanade holds 1000 people at one time (3 stories)  This is the rock wall at the back on the smoke stack. It is the highest point on the ship.. and yes i climbed it and it wasn't easy cause it is only open when the ship is en route to a port... and the ship sways back and forth... not fun if your sea sick.. |
