This is how Buell should support the XB line.

Three different High performance race kits right from Yamaha for their new model MT-01.

Everything from different pipes to ECM`s to cams, pistons, and clutches.

I think Yamaha has a winner with this model.

Check the Yamaha Buell Wannabe thread. Nice article in the October Cycle World. However in the transition from concept to production, they lost a lot of the bikes visual appeal.

Perhaps the accessories Yamaha is coming out with will address this issue but to me, it went from a simple, clean design to a Bling Bling Special.

Bill, looking at the pics of the bike in the mag it appears as if the major thing it lost was the odd shock linkage, other than that it probably retains 90% or better of the concept bike.

NOT...Added Bling Bling like crazy and appears to have lost that really sexy rear hugger. Seems all the open space of the concept bike has been filled in with shiny irregular shaped hardware that Yamaha is unfortunately known for in its cruisers.

Still, if you read the website, the Stage I, II and III kits sound exciting as do some of the other accessories. Almost a Harley-Like approach. Additionally the reference between R1 and V-Max is really interesting.

I am confident that it will be a great bike and one that I will strongly consider. However, for now, it dropped from my must have list. Perhaps, HD will come up with something equivalent with the V-Rod and shock the hell out of us.

In as much as I still want the Super StreetTracker version, the StreetFighter may be the counter to the MT-01. Just guessing.

Remember, this was a concept bike illustration commissioned by Cycle World and not HDI. Looks a little more user friendly for both rider and passenger at least in the "Rump Roast" department. Whoops...and it is liquid cooled too. LOL

You guys should't be surprised about the kits for the MT-01; Yamaha offers those kits for the Warrior and it is the same engine.

That is quite true. From my perspective the current MT-01 appears so different from the original concept bike that I am in a wait and see mode.

Still the fundamental ideas behind the bike are high on my priority list. Sporting, naked, torque monster, etc. Perhaps the real thing can be cleaned up like we tend to do with out Tubers. Then again, perhaps HD will provide us with something to make us smile.

I have the time to wait it out.

A friend has a Warrior and it has some nice power.

The only thing I don't like it that its almost as long as my minivan. The MT-01 is something I could get used to......

I keep looking at the pics of the MT-01 and keep thinking V-Rod. If that be the case, I have the feeling that Harley would do a better job of styling. I don't even entertain the thought of Buell in that market niche.

Just received the Oct issue of Motorcyclist. They did an article on the MT-01 also and used the same pic Cycle World did. LMAO Articles read pretty much the same as well.

One thing Motorcyclist did is print an illustration of the MT-01 that must have predated the picture. Has a red tank cover and front fender. Everything else is blacked out unlike the pic. No real Bling Bling in the illustration and it looks pretty mean in profile.

Oh Yeah, almost forgot. Both Rags did articles on the CityX as well. Nice reviews in spite of the tongue-in-cheek humor.

Don't ya just hate it when all the MC Rags do the same reviews in the same month. If it weren't for the very little the individual content and editorial policies that differentiates them, we could probably get along with only one. LOL

Yeah, but when subscriptions cost all of $15 its nice to have magazines in the mail rather than just bills.

No kidding. If it weren't for the mags, I wouldn't get anything but bills and solicitations.

I would rather have the updated Speed triple instead of this. At least that bike you know will have some balls to it.

I think it's ugly. Just my opinion but that's why I love Buell's, No clutter just clean and simple.

With 1600cc's and 80 hp the Yamaha has just got to have a ton of torque and that's always fun, but I'd rather have a CityX or a Speed Triple.

Time will tell, but for now, I am quite satisfied with my X1.
