I advise against an 88" for a bike you intend to ride a lot. 76" is plenty if you use the right parts... 110 to 120 rwhp. |

Blake, it wouldnt be a bike that gets ridden a lot. Probably just a track toy. |

Anyone that thinks otherwise is a FOOL. No one is a fool for having thoughts, right or wrong !! It's a fool who won't have thoughts of his own, afraid that someone might call him a fool for his thoughts !! CJ |

Dyna; it isn't about absolute horsepower; it it was, you'd be happier on a Hayabusa. It's about the "grin factor". I suggested Aaron or Wes & Pammy because they're known for their customer service, and for doing the Right Thing. Hell, if they built you a motor, you know it would be stone reliable. And a stone reliable Buell will have you smiling so much, your cheeks will start cramping. |

Glitch, That was almost too subtle, had to look at it for a moment to see what you did. Sneaky, and clever. Dyna, Keep me in mind if any engine parts are dumpster destined. I'm looking for some parts to carve on some. Don't matter what shape they're in. And for some reason I see you heading up to Newton in November. (I've just come up with about 9 seasonal bike names but will pass on posting them. ) Have fun with whatever you end up doing. And have they decided yet where your shop is moving to? |

Wow...An RC51 Wannabe. Sweet!!! Wonder how it will sound with the dual high pipes. Think it will be a threat to DaveS on the track? |

Concerning my other comment, it had to do with Buell, not Bueller's. So put down the weapons and grab your reading glasses next time. |

I'm with you, Dyna. Shoehorn a shiny TwinCam B into that tuber. Lots of ooo's & aaah's, guaranteed. Torque Sports, indeed! |

Cost to split the cases & replace the crank??? Not nearly as bad of shape as I had been led to believe overall. Although my Buell Pegasus seat, chin spoiler, & both pieces of side plastic are mysteriously missing. Waiting for a call back. |

Yes. Along with a box O parts. Heads, cylinders, etc all look fine. The cams are toast as is the crank gear. Looks like the oil pump seized up for whatever reason & it must be harder than the rest of the gears because the crank gear is just about smooth..no teeth at all. Looks like it needs a new crank, cams, 2 pushrods & an oil pump. Oh yea...the rest of my body parts too. For Buell or Ukes this would have been an easy & cheap fix...why did it have to get so ugly? |

Sure is a shame it did get nasty. Oh well, nothing can be said that hasn't already been aired. Question...you mention the oil pump seized, does it look like the classic oil pump drive gear failure that others have documented? That is the only failure prone part I haven't voluntarily replaced yet and am always looking for info on a stronger replacement part that will provide longer wear and peace of mind. |

78 days and counting, give or take a few. Dyna, Make a hardtail chopper out of it, use the Buell tank cover, put a wrinklewall dragslick on back. Just a thought. |

It appears as if the pinion gear can be replaced without yanking the crankshaft. If so & the shaft is in good shape, this could actually be a super cheap fix. Cams, pushrods, oil pump & gaskets. |

Mr. Grumpy had the same failure with his M2. From what he indicated it was a fairly cheap fix. |

Be sure to flush out the oil passages as best as you can. I understand that some debris can get into some hard to get to places. Might be worth splitting the cases just to be sure. Be very certain to document in detail all you find. Could prove very entertaining later on. |

As Reep reported, Zipper's stopped selling the super duty oil pump drive gear as a stand alone product a while back. I wonder if they sell it with their four stage oil pump? As Bomber pointed out once you are down to the drive gear, you may as well replace the pump as well. Only cost is the pump at that point and it would be cheap insurance. |
