You have to be kidding???

I know people are doing it but chopping up a Buell would be the equivalent of chopping off a vital body part.

Just my opinion.

But what do I know I'M ONLY A COOK!!!

Newfie,
with the used market as flat and lowball as it is, and will dealerships offering well less than $2000 (like $1000-$1500) for something like a relatively decent S2, is it any real wonder so many Buells are being parted out or chopper modified? A used Buell can be picked up for less than a used Sportster, well less, and the difference in price more than makes up for the cost of the rigid frame, and the custom hardtails are apparently selling fairly well due to perceived public image and various television shows and monthly magazines.

A kitchen is a much safer place to be in currently than wandering into the Buell market place as a used bike seller. Trust me, kitchens are cool, used Buells are dead cold, apparently.

=====
(ps, I may need to go into hiding now since someone probably just put a contract out on me.)

also do a search for Redneck Engineering, they offer the Mutant Frame which is a pretty sweet little design.

Take a foot forward bike pull the engine out, stick it in a sport bike frame, pull it out, stick it in a foot forward frame...

Choppers? hardtail? *shudder*

No thanks. I'll keep my M2 inside a nice comfy softail frame where no one expects it to be.

Yep, the days of leaving your keys in the ignition and your bike still being there when you get back may be past. But it isn't necessarily the "biker" you need to be concerned about.

MikeJ...Any ideas concerning where I should not park my Buell in town if I want it to be there when I get back?

I hear Doc's Jewlery is having a sale. ; )
About 15 minutes of in-store shopping should suffice. If you do go let me know if he still has the 12gauge upright in the doorway on the friendly side of the plexiglass.

Bring your cell phone should the air in your tires disappear while shopping.

If you want to build a custom chopper from the sportster engine that you can ride all day check out the rubber mount frames from rowe machine.
