With all the hype (both good and bad)I've read about the CitiX lately, I just had to go see one for real. IMHO there's really not much of a difference between it and the XB9. I don't understand what all the flap was about. The handguards look like they come off in ten minutes or less. The light screen looks like it might prevent a cat from breaking your lights if you hit one airborne. The translucent plastic looks, well, kinda "Gen-X" dorky, (just my opinion) but not fitting with the "most heinous" title previously bestowed upon it. The most outstanding feature of the bike was that I found it rather plain and boring. I'll stick with my tuber, thank you.

Friend. I like it quite a bit, although I will stick with my 12R.

It will be my next bike.

I don't really need a 12, and I wanted a taller XB, and I like the dirtbike style seat. I had even looked into trying to find brush guards for my Cyclone, for warmth not for car mirrors. I think it would easily add two months to my riding season around here.

I like the styling as well, but I am GenX, so I can't say I disagree. I like the "go anywhere at anytime, I won't be stopped" attitude that the styling expresses.

Was kinda dorky at first but its growing on me.

I would love to see one in the flesh.

I think it is a friend.
Lots of people have been checking it out and the younger they are, the more they like it.
I think I'm going to sell a ton of them!

I have actually been looking at adapting a set of those had guards to my X-1 for warmth in the winter. Anything that will help keep that cold wind off the knuckles is a good thing.

Got 2 at Mancuso HD. 1 brand new, 1 wrecked...by one of the HD salesmen.

They do look better in person. The ISO mandated quality/lot tracking stamps in the plastic need to be relocated to a less visually obvious place. The fender should have matched as well.

The handguard grafting is a good idea. Some of the dirtbike ones I went looking at wouldn't clear the switch housings. We know these will fit.

On the wrecked one, frame, swingarm and all kinds of stuff need to be replaced. An insurance co would easily total it out. Told owner/drag racer Johnny Mancuso to just fix the mechanicals and use it as a track bike for me to race on the shop's behalf. Might be good publicity for the shop and the brand name to make a showing at the track. He said, "yeah, right, whatever..." Drag racers just don't understand, do they?

I don't know about the fender matching. If it were clear, you would see all of the road grime and other stuff showing through and it would suck to clean. The other option would have been trying to match the blue which would never work due to the clear stuff looking different under different lighting. I think if they tried to match it, 99% of the time it would look like they tried but missed. I think the black fender was the best solution (plus I think it looks cool with the black wheels).

Neither friend nor foe. Nothing currently available in the Buell Line that would move me into trading in the X1.

I turn 50 in Dec. and am thinking of buying myself one.

CF pieces, Drummer, race ECM, and FAST intake to show off under the cover.
Sounds like a great around town bike to me.

I might wait for the summer though to see if a 12 version appears.

It's not my taste (the clear parts) but the rest looks cool. I've already got the headlamp slider on my bike.
Some don't like it at all, but those that do, think it's "killer!"
I guess (to quote one of those magazines) "if you like this sort of thing, you're gonna love this!"

It's got a few minor updates...other than that I'd call it a gimmick. Being that it's the only "9" still for sale I may end up buying one...for the wifie. The S1 will be mine FOREVER.

Well, Buell has certainly managed to catch the eye of the younger crowd, which, I'm told, has been the objective since the introduction of the XB series. It does sort of leave us "older?" guys hanging out to dry though. Like Rick, I have no intentions of trading my tuber, and there is nothing on the market currently (new) to induce me to do so. In all honesty, my next (additional)bike will probably be another used Buell tuber, like an S2 or an S3/T. From an engineering standpoint, I fully understand Buell's leap forward in technology and total abandonment of tube frame technology and development, HOWEVER...what eventually will ensue is the regression back to a cult following,(for the tube frame bikes) sort of the way Buell was in the early days, and the way some of the older Brit bikes are today. The question of the day (and your homework for this evening)is this... The CitiX is the same old King in a new coat. The 12 was the last leap forward in technology. What could be going through the minds of the guys in the Skunkworks now?

I like the idea of a new product and the clear blue is cool. Going for the younger market is smart but it still leaves the older crowd out. I will have my M2 for life.

I wandered down to a local shop's open house Friday afternoon and saw a Confederate there. Got me to thinking it did.

I, too, am very interested in the next big thing from Buell -- I'm convinced that prudent and responsible fiscal management means it's another 3 - 5 years off, though . . . . .the XB line (or any new platform, for that matter) cost big dough to get out into the world

Oh well...Hopefully something will hit the streets before I get sent to the "Home."

I keep getting stuff from Yamaha about the MT01 and that is really beginning to grow on me. Might even take the place of the Super StreetTracker that Glynn Kerr drew up for Harley that will probably never make production.

Bummer...real bummer. I like buying American made stuff when I can. For example, look at all the Miata's and other neat yet affordable imported sports cars on the streets, but would an American Company make one. Hell NO!!! They still claim there isn't a market for one. Sound familiar???

The one I saw down a Hal's Friday looked like it'd be fun to take a spin on. But I'm fairly certain the admission price is well out of my financial comfort range, and even out of reach of my discomfort range as well. It did look like it'd be fun to ride though in an ornery sort of way.

Oh yeah, CityX, this threads topic, saw one of those at the main store too. Different worlds sometimes, amazing what walking a few hundred yards can do.

The CityX may actually cause me to buy an XB. Won't make me get rid of the X-1, though. i like it too much, and it reminds me of the new '68 XLCH I had as a young lad. The XB will certainly fit the wife, and if she isn't home .....

Bomber, your memory is good (better than mine, as I demonstrated last weekend--BTW, the measurement I forgot to take is 1.140"; )

I did indeed own an early Confederate, a '96 America GT,which was their "twintail" version. It ran like a bat in a straight line, wouldn't turn for , stopped real well, shifted OK. It was kinda cool, but the whole was less than the sum of the parts, if you catch my drift.

Can't believe they actually are marketing this thing. Only streamers from the handlebars & baseball cards in the spokes would make it any more lame. My advice... Buy up 03 & 04 XB air box covers & fenders. the knuckleheads who bought cityx's will be desperate to rid themselves of their transparent blue plastic once it's scratched & clouded. You'll make a killing on ebay.

Wow, so much angst against the City X because it's "different."

I like it. I'm not about to trade my 12R for it, but it's really neat. I realize it doesn't get any technical improvements over the previous XB's ('cept the forks and tires) but the XB was already a great platform. The existing 9S wasn't the fastest bike on the planet, but it would get you down an unfamiliar road much faster than you'd expect.

The idea of the City X works great; take an existing model that functions well and stylize it to reach a completely different crowd. As an example, one of our parts guys at Ray Price just bought a City X. He's a young moto-X guy who thought Buells were neat, but really wanted a fully faired sportbike (specifically, an R6). He didn't even like naked bikes but when he saw the 9SX in person he decided he had to have it. That's one more person riding a Buell who wouldn't have bought one previously.

I'm with spike. Expanding the market segment is a good thing. How many of you who "don't like it" have even seen it? I'm not going to pass any judgment till I get an eyes on...
