Noticed quite a few bikes on here have the inner rear guards removed. Besides having the belt guard as part of it, does it do anything else? I thought inner guards were there to improve air flow, but on my X1 the oil tank is right in front of it anyway. I was thinking of removing mine and making upper and lower belt guards from sheet alloy (I'd hate to see my wifes foot get caught in the belt). cheers, lemonchili |

As far as I know, it's purpose it to keep crap from flying up and splatting on the underside of the tail section. Just remember the next time you do a burn out, then all of the rubber that collects in the inner fender will now fling up under your bike. |

Not to mention Oil from a rocker Box leak, overfiller oil tank, ant kinda oil tank leak, overfilled tranny or blown main seal, Starter gasket Failer. |

Odd thing about those. Most of the Buells I've seen have theirs removed, but a buddy with a GSXR1000 just installed one. I like the look so I kept mine. |
