Forgive me if this has already been discussed...

We've been over top speed threads and comparisons to metrics. I can't recall any comparisons to the VROD other than waxing poetic for water cooling... It's got a few more horses on us (115 per HD site), but it's also substantially heavier (596lbs dry)...

You'll need to define the parameters and then put on the Nomex longjohns.
1/4 mile e.t.?
Total top speed maxed out?
55mph => 100mph roll on speed/time?
Best time around a short curvy track?
Corner bar to corner bar?
First define how you intend to measure "faster".
; )

At least in the quarter mile, the VROD wins. A half second or so, IIRC. Higher redline, more power, longer wheelbase, etc. Plenty of things contribute to it being faster straightline.

In my experience riding with Spidy on a VROD, it is faster in roll-ons as well.

I would venture to guess on any type of corner but sweepers the XB would be substantially faster, however.

I know for a fact that my S3 is faster than a Vrod with the S-E breather and slip-on muffler.

i know for a fact a Vrod with the screamin eagle kit would leave my M2 (with andrews cams, k&n, V&H, adjustable ign) for dead, NO contest in a strait line.

Ran my stock at the time XB9S against a stock V-Rod and to about 90mph I had him covered pretty well but by 100mph he stormed by me like I'd lost a cylinder. In a straight line, V-Rods are VERY impressive.

-=points at Spidey=-

What he said. No Buell without significant engine work is going to keep up with even a stock V-Rod in a straight line.

If what you said is indeed true then there was either something wrong with the V-Rod or rider of same, or you've got thousands of dollars in enhancements that you're not telling anyone about.

Never said my S3 was stock. I have witnesses. All testing done in a super secret Florida location with a dealer demo Vrod. Laugh if you wish but wonders can be done with a flow bench. I was not riding either bike, this was done before I purchased it. The rider of the S3 and the rider of the Vrod switched bikes and it was close but the result was the same. Now had there been a curve in that road it would not have been a contest at all.

V-rods are indeed very impressive in a straight line and even in some mild twisties. A good friend of mine has one cruises along with us with no problems. It sounds great to when he gives it a good twist of the wick!

Oh yee of little faith. You can debate until you all turn blue in the face. I for one do not care if I am believed or not. In this forum I would not be worth a lot anyway. I did not build the engine so all of the parts used escape me.

A. Flowed heads (nothing secret)

B. Full race kit.

C. Cams (Can't recall the specs but not stock)

I have never had it on the dyno and I don't know what numbers it would have. The Combination just seems to work. If the previous owner had not come into a few other S3's that were owned by a deceased friend I know he would not have sold it. He tells me every time he sees the bike that it is the best running Buell he has ever ridden (he is on his 6th) and he wishes he had not sold it. I was hooked after the first ride.

Oh and the Moroso was not part of the picture when this went on. Seat of the pants tells me that it does not hurt performance. May help may not but I do not have easy access to a dyno to find out.

Spiderman, you could have rode with me at Daytona bike week but you guys spent too much time in the campground sleeping. Oh well maybe some other time. Are you still flat black or has some shine come into your bikes life?

My V-rod just stomps the p### out of my X1 but it is just not as much fun to ride. one of each is the best H-D has to offer.

Don't think so Bluey but it will run with it.From a dead stop ya just can't launch a XB like a V-Rod.But if you were rolling together you'd hold him.

Had an opportunity to put a few hundred miles on a V-rod, screamin eagle crap all over it, ran very well.(320 miles on a demo while my 12 was in the shop, fuel leak..) It may or may not be faster, quicker, whatever, but it sure is one hell of a wind blowin experience, I did not like being tossed around at high speeds like that. My 12r is much more stable.
I know that doesn't say which is faster, but in a real world blast down the highway, I 'd take em on!!

I walked around a V-Rod (albeit slowly) from about 70 to about 120. I was in fourth, I don't know what gear he was in. He was most certainly at full throttle. I weigh in at 200#, I would guess he was at about 170#. He was on a ride with some of us AZ Buellers. He didn't have anything but good to say about it's straight line performance, but we hit a hill that's a split four lane and I can average right around a hundred coming up the hill. I looked in my mirror when entering the third corner and didn't see him come out of the second one yet. I slowed down to make sure he hadn't tried to keep up and a couple corners later I finally saw him. I was about to turn around and go against traffic to find him.

I would say the V-Rod is a little faster than a 9, but not quite as fast as a 12. We all know there isn't much difference between a 9 and a 12 so for all intents and purposes, all three are about the same. It probably took me about 1/8 of a mile to get around him.

Havent seen any STRAIGHTLINE tests where a V-Rod didnt walk all over the XB12.

In the curves..well duh, the V-rod was designed as a dragster inspired cruiser bike. But for any straightline acceleration tests, if you have an XB that is beating a V-rod, then the rider either totally sucks or simply isnt giving it his all.

I only mentioned that "I" was in fourth gear. I don't know what gear he was in. I know he was at full throttle though. Oh, and he wasn't tucked at all, I was.

Riding my Thunderstormed and race kitted S2 and V-Rod back to back this week I can't really say which is faster. Although the Buell definitely has the grin factor to it. In going to work one morning this week riding my S2 and dealing with all the idiotic cage drivers I finally got a break in the traffic and twisted the throttle and when I saw that I was approaching triple digits (on a road with a speed limit of 45!) I twisted the throttle even more!
GRIN!
I will say that after riding the V-Rod a lot, I seem to hit the rev limiter on the S2 more than normal (because the Sporty motor can't spin to 9 grand like the Revo can).
