need help finding right side case half for '99 X1. Any help would be appreciated. I layed it over a couple of years ago and have decided to try and put this one back together.

By starter do you mean the left primary cover?
If so, there is a couple of them on Ebay right now.

As far as I know these types of parts are not specific to Buells. Sportster parts are identical so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it, new or used.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this but the case halfs (or primary and cam covers for that matter) are not specific to Buells. They're the same as the Sportster (for a specific year or range of years), right?

Oh yeah, I'm obviously talking about tube frame models only.

The primary is the same but the cam cover....Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading in BattleTwin Mag. that the oil passages are slightly different. That why when I chromed the cases on my old bike I just put a cover over the cam side.

I thought the cam cover has been changed over the years for the Sportster and Buell. That's why I said, "for a specific year or range of years". I don't know the exact years or anything. So you have to make sure you have the correct cam cover but it's not specific to Buells but it is specific to the year.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Damn can't find that artical but if memory serves they changed the oil passages in the 2000 and newer model's.But I don't know if the sportsters are the same or not.I can't see any reason why not.

I know that the sporty engine cases are the same as the Buell engine cases, that is up to 2004 sporty and the XB Buells, obviously. There are some subtle differences in the sporty years as for oiling passages on the cam side. As far as I know, the primary and cam covers from will fit any years from 1991 to 2003. This is based on typical gasket sets that you can buy. The complete Cometic gasket set I got say it will fit these dates, so I would assume they are all interchangable.

I have a set of spare covers (primary and cam) but not the engine cases. I am having the spare set chromed right now, after I get them back I will be taking off my stock set and selling them. Make me an offer if that is what you need. They are from my 00 X-1.
