Buy a service manual.

I'd concur and suggest you see section B-16 in the XB manual (or the equivalent section for whatever bike you have - we ususally say WAHT bike we are asking about here).

The BUELL MOTORCYCLE SERVICE manuals are some of the best in the business and come complete with very detailed wiring diagrams.

If your dealer doesn't have it get ahold of American Sportbike or Dave Steuve, they can fix you up pronto.

Why did you fix the kill switch wire? Did fixing that actually fix the original problem? Was the original problem no spark?

Does an 01 M2 have a kick stand switch?

Yes.
Sounds to me like he is butchering his wiring.

Now, previously you said that it had been fixed. Was it REALLY fixed, as in, the bike ran, and now this is a new problem? Or did the spark plugs never fire after you 'fixed' the bike?

When you ask questions like this, you need to be much more complete in the information you give. You can't expect anyone to come up with a miracle answer in 17 minutes (the time between your first three posts), especially since you never told us what the problem was the last time you wanted information.

Go an buy the service manual. It is more than worth the $60. Without knowing what you did to the bike previously it's impossible to say with any confidence what your problem is.

I thought that the bike wouldn't even turn over if the kickstand switch went bad?

no im not just butchering wires. i know what wires to cut and rerun but someone also told me that if the batter is dead or a cell in the battery is dead that it wont spark. because even when i just it. it wont spark. so im guessing that thats my problem right there. is to just get a new battery. what do u guys think?

Does the bike crank normally (or even close)? If so, your battery has plenty of juice - starters require a lot of power.

...and yes, you did 'butcher' the wires, because you should have tracked down the short and fixed it, not ran a new wire. It's possible that the same short is now causing other issues. You still need to track down that original problem and rectify it. Treating symptoms does not mean it's cured.

Someone correct me because I have been wrong ONCE before!!!!

Wouldn't the M2 wiring be similar to the S1 wiring?

If so then go to the Knowledge Vault and review the S1 manual!!!!

Either that or Spend the $60 bucks on a manual, its well worth it.

To be honest we can't diagnose the wiring over the net - damm bloody difficult!!!!!

We can keep suggesting different things to check but if your butchering the wiring then your going to have more problems than the initial one. Get the manual and start going through the troubleshooting section.

Just my thoughts.

yeah and basically what is happening is the starter is chattering when i sometimes hit the start button so im guessing the battery doesnt have enough power to give to the starter to even spark the plugs. but most people are telling me my battery is probably dead. its a 3 year old battery so i dunno. also i live in south florida with extreme heat

You could also have dirty contacts on the starter relay.

I think you need to step away from the bike & let someone who knows what the hell they are doing fix it. Just because you own a hammer & pliers doesnt make you a mechanic.

You know what wires to cut & rerun?? You cant even figure out if your battery is shot or not. Dont take this personally but some folks should not work on bikes. Had a buddy who almost bought a Yammy from a guy who "knew what he was doing". This guy too butchered the wiring so bad he actually had the bike wired up with no fuses or relays anywhere. Claimed he had a couple minor issues but it was ok now.

That makes no sense...is the bike CRANKING or not. Cranking means the engine is is turning over. And it only chatters 'sometimes'? All you're doing is raising more questions.

Take Dyna's advice and give the bike to someone who knows what they're doing.

My guess:
Problem - Battery dead
Cause - Drained due to other "fix"
Solution - Fix original problem properly

If you blow the money on a new battery, not only will you most likely be facing another dead one in the near future, but you could have used the money to buy the service manual.

I'd say the battery is dead now,

Sounds like the solenoid is clicking due to a dead battery.

Maybe you cut a wire somewhere and its now the electrical system is not charging.

Reverse everything you do so far and try to fix the initial problem.

Check EBAY for a service manual. They go for a lot less there.
