Everyone is always asking what has Yamaha done for me, what events do they put on, etc. Well I received this in the mail today.

62 page hardcover book detailing the history, design & development of the R1. Kinda neat to get something totally unexpected & for no reason really.

You must be very proud.
All I've ever gotten from the maker of my bike has been a bunch of stickers, four t-shirts, a couple of pins, two patches, a CD, a video tape, and a few other bits and bobs.
Go figure.

Dyna:

Make no mistake about it...YAMAHA is a great company. Remind me to tell you THAT story sometime.

The news here is that there really is no news. Buell has done more than any mainstream manufactuer in history to enfranchise it's owners. Snoop about and see if you can find anyone (I'll accept a SINGLE individual) that has picked up there telephone to hear "Hi, my name is XXXXXX and I am president of Yamaha Motorsports Division and just wanted to see how you were enjoying the new motorcycle"

Too tough for a starter?

How about finding me ANYONE from ANY of the other manufacturers that's missed their kids appearance in the Jr. High "The King and I" to carry a backpack, race to the airport, make a late flight and spend the weekend with owners AND REALLY ENJOY it.

It is, my friend, posts like this one that regardless of and and all glitches along the way and through the years, that reminds me of just how unique and special Buell Motorcycles are.

Others, unable to marshall, this level of one on one do the next best things....and that is well and good. By the way, I have an entire shelf of Ducati and Aprillia books, most signed by designers. The best one, a complete official Ducati history, I ended up with multiple copies of as my friends in Bologna (and at Motociclisimo) all scrambled to show me how "Buell like" they can be. Nice folks, good friends, nice books. I use them for the speeches I've given at Henry Bendel and about Manhattan on Ducati history.

I love the R1 for what it is.

I love motorcycling for what the R1 is not.

I'd BUY a Buell before I'd keep an R1 gift.

(Ok, I'd ride it once before I got it. : ) )

Books, pins, bling bling...Bah Humbug! Just sell me what I want, a product worth the price.

Too many goodies and I will get the feeling the MSRP is increased to cover the additional marketing expense.

Then again, personal appearances by Erik and BRAG Tchotchke's are the exception to the above.

Erik is going above and beyond the call of duty in working with his existing and prospective customers and you actually defray the cost of the BRAG stuff with your membership and event fees.

Does Muzzy and Chandler's signature on the fairing of my ZX-7 at Brainerd in 1989, count? Long gone now, but I caught them in the pits on a Sun. AM, when I was getting new tires for my RIDE back to Fl.
